I took two days of 50 mg Clomid and then I did not last night because I am just so worried about OHSS or other bad stuff.

I know I'm going over the top, I'm just so anxious, more anxious than normal.

And yesterday my back felt like sore/tired all day, and I had gas, which is out of the normal for me, and I was bloated.

Granted, I'm on the last couple days of my period, and I haven't had a period in 7 months. Maybe the symptoms are from that?

Maybe they are from the Clomid but aren't serious?

Help :(

Sorry I posted this in my Clomid group threads already, I just really was hoping for lots of opinions.

My FS said that in the many years he has prescribed clomid - he never got a case of OHSS with clomid alone, but has with the HcG injections (trigger shots)
The first cycle of clomid made me bloated for almost the entire cycle, and I felt out of it almost the whole time as well. The second cycle was better - felt ok for most of it, only a bit of bloated a couple times throughout the cycle, but long.
This current cycle #3 - I have only been bloated for the few days leading up to O so far and only felt out of it yesterday.

It sounds like you are just having side effects from the clomid, and nothing serious.

I think this is exactly what I need to hear, so sad that I'm 26 and need reassurance but I do! Normally I'd call my mom and she would reassure me and whatnot but I'm not telling anyone but Hubby about taking medicine to conceive

You aren't going to get OHSS from Clomid. I had OHSS with my IVF... i had 40-50 follicles. Even on the absolute highest dose of Clomid you wouldn't get that...and especially not with only taking a 50mg dose. Now, you will probably get some pretty good cramping when you ovulate, but again, totally normal to get that with a medicated cycle.

Feeling gassy/bloated/crampy with Clomid is totally normal. That means it's working :)

Hey! We're Willamette Valley buddies. :)

I agree with the other ladies - it's just normal side effects. I hate being on medication and every time a new side effect crops up, I get worried and I want to throw in the towel. But we do what we have to do.

A friend told me to just think of this process as pre-pregnancy. Feeling awful is more tolerable if it's pre-pregnancy than if it were just some lame side effect from a random medication, right?

Thank you all!

I did decide to start it back up again and just relax about it. I googled and googled and googled and finally I found a study about side effects that didn't list the ones I was worried about in my first post.... but it said that a small amount of women on Clomid who already have anxiety will have increased anxiety. Haha.... I think that means me.

So when I started back up and just relaxed, the symptoms went away. :)

This cycle may be a bust because I took it CD4,5,7,8,9 instead of 4-8 like I was supposed to but oh well! I'm still excited!

Thank you Amy8686! Don't you love living here too? It's so pretty and green always!

Too late to reassure you, but I basically agree with the others! The feelings you are getting are normal. I had increased anxiety last cycle too, which culminated in a panic attack.....was a mixture of worrying about what clomid was doing to me due to the grim side effects, and also worry that I was gong to be told it wasn't working. Anyway, it did work, and well, I had two good follicles, but sadly BFN. I'm on my next cycle now and feeling a lot better about the whole thing than I was last time, just because I now know what to expect.

I don't think it will be a total bust because to missed cd 6, I think it will be ok. Good luck!

stick with it jess, like all medications there are is a small risk of side effects but just concentrate on the potential outcome...a miracle,a baby!

see below signature...for obvious reasons I think it's the most amazing stuff invented.

Don't count yourself out....plenty of people forget a pill and then just start again the next day....I'm sure it will be fine :). For me, Clomid always meant very painful ovulation. But like the others said....it sucks, but it's a small price to pay for getting a baby. You just have to take a deep breath and push through it.

Oh....and I would cry. A lot. Usually starting around 5dpo. Sometimes something would set me off, other times it would just be random fits of tears.

definatly stick with it, i had 50mg clomid (day 2-6 )and i would get quite bad headaches and mood swings with the 1st cycle, and then on the 2nd cycle the symtoms reduced slightly. and that was the cycle that worked. fingers crossed for all the ladies who are currently using clomid :-) xxx
