clomid ovulation question

Hey everybody, I wondered if i could have some advice! Ive taken my first batch of clomid tablets as my cycles are all over the place. Due to this I have tested with a digital ovulation kit every day starting on the 4th/5th day after taking the clomid.
Ive had no positive ovulation test and im on day 18, is this normal as its meant to happen between 4 and 10 days after the pill isnt it??

Maybe it hasnt worked but wondered how long the latest is that ovulation could maybe occurr, are these tests always accurate?

Hi, keep testing CLOMID can make you ovulate later! have you had day 21 bloods done?

Hey amy, thanks for the reply....i dont get any bloods or anything done with my GP, you just get given the pills so its all a bit of guess work! I just wasnt sure how late it could actually be on clomid and these tests cost a bomb....plus its pretty disheartening seeing a negative result everyday when we are putting so much efford it to BD!....all seems a bit wasted if you know what i mean?

I know exactly what you mean, i haven't got a clue if i have ovulated this month, what mg of CLOMID are you taking have you had much side effects? xxx

I know it seems confusing, especially with no positive opk yet. You did not mention if you were taking BBT. That would definitely let you know if you have O'd yet. I only get day 21 bloods but my BBT's are what really tell me when I have ovulated. I also find that using Fertility Friend really helps. Have you noticed any EWCM? Fingers crossed

Hi. I'm on my 1st cycle with clomid and got my 1st ever positive OPK on CD18, I wouldn't panic just yet and if you are BD a lot then even if you have missed your spike, you should be OK! Baby dust. X

I was on my first round of Clomid and ovulated on CD19/20 with my first positive OPK on CD19. I took the pills from day 2 to 6 so I ovulated 13 days after the last pill.

Hey All,im on 50mg and i took them on day 2-6, its my first time taking it. Im not doing the basel body temperature stuff but maybe i should!
Ive not had any side effects apart from a few headaches but mainly all ive had is hot flushes at night but other than that its not been too bad? No signs of ovulation at all so think its not worked this month but will keep optimistic!

well its day 21 now and still no smiley face on the OPK, im getting tired of testing every day as its costing a bomb using digital ovulation tests! how long do you think i should continue testing for or would you say im out of this cycle now?

In your experience if it hasnt worked shall i go to 100mg's? ive got loads of clomid as the doctor gave me boxes of it....or should I stick to the 50 and just hope it works next month??

My doctor decided 50mg was not working, and put me on 100mg for this cycle (#3).

Can you get your bloods tested?? That's an easy way to check if you ovulated....

Because it was late (CD22). The doctor believes one needs to ovulate around CD14/15 for a better chance at getting pg
We have male factor problem as well.

Quaver, do you know why Dr decided 50mg didn't work? As you have ovulated both times....It's just that I stuck to 50mg this cycle and now am thinking whether I should have increased it to 100mg too

Although I know a ton of ladies who ovulated late (after CD18) and got pg no problem....

I hope 100mg helps though

Hi! Cycle buddy!

I think the doctor figured as I ovulate around CD22 without Clomid, if I ov on CD22, then Clomid didn't work

I didn't have side effects with 50mg, but with 100mg, there's few creeping up - mild headache, cramping and heartburn...

Hey Quaver -thanks for the link, i did order strips once but it seemed like a milaray operation have to wait for the right temperature of urine ect ect so i got fed up -the ones you reccomend are they simple...eg just pee on it and nothing else?!

Cheerios -i dont get bloods done, my GP just gave me the clomid and said to get on with it!!

You are supposed to pee in a cup, and dip it for 10 seconds.
I'm a great aimer, so I do it mid-stream (you have to wet both sides)...

ok great, so you dont have to wait for 30 minutes or anything, just literally pee in a cup and test? if thats the case then i will defo buy some of these as the ones i had before were such a faff which is why i started buying the digital ones!

Yes, you don't need to wait for your pee to cool down to room temp. You can just dip it for 10sec, and wait till the lines come (5-10mins).
