Hi ladies,
Bear with me this is all on my phone :-) . I have decided to try again after my miscarriage. I had a D&C October 27th. I have had one normal period and was due for my next one yesterday (on and off cramps, I usually get intense cramps all day) and for the last 4/5 day I have had VERY light spotting. Light brown, only realized because of cervical checks... So I was told to do clomid 5-9 again because of success last time. But my doctor will only let me have it twice and it obviously works for me. My question is (if anyone knows) my period is obviously going to be late. I was told by my OB to count you first flowing day as day one. Will this work if my period is late? I know it sound weird but I'm thinking, if my period is late does that mean my egg will be old? Or has my period really already started just hasn't made it's way down yet, which would cause me to take clomid way too late. Or is none of this true, an a period is like a reset button? Basically "when on clomid does it matter if the pre-period is late/ abnormal.

Ps- I have PCOS and since metformin normally get a few days of spotting pre-period but not a consistent amount of days.

Hi ya,

If I am not mistaken, your cycles tend to get slightly wonky after a miscarriage, especially after D&C. But that does not apply to everyone, of course.

I know with Clomid, even if it started with spotting, you are to consider that as 1st day Period BUT if I am you, I would judge the flow myself if to take that as 1st day or not. I conceived on 100mg Clomid day 2-6 and success on the 1st round. I tend to spot a few days before the witch actually kicks in. I remember waited for a day or two before officially making it my 1st day of cycle.

Re period being late and eg being old - I don't think the egg is old if your period is late. Cycles vary at times...

Periods are the 'reset'. The hormones to start the maturation process of the next eggs don't kick in until day 1. If you knew that you only had 1 day of spotting then it wouldn't matter so much what you count at cd1 but I've had as much as 3-4 days of spotting so I don't count until full flow.

^what she said. Don't count cd1 until full flow. I can tell you from experience that after a mc, you body can take awhile to get back into a normal pattern.
