I had my usual scan and check up today, I knew there was something up because she was taking forever. When i seen my consultants registra she told me the fluid looks really cloudy and she doesnt know why. She then sent me round to monitor the babies heartbeat for a while well she spoke to a few other consultants. She told me they might induce me because they dont know why its like this and im term anyway.
She came back and told me that none of them have ever came across this and they cant think why its cloudy. They agreed that so long as the baby seems active enough, the blood flow in the cord is fine and the heartbeat looked good that I could come home n carry on as normal n go back thursday for obs again.

Anyone ever came across this...?

Googled, and didn't see anything alarming. May sites said it should be clear to a bit cloudy to due vernix.

Good luck if they do go ahead and do the inducement (don't really know anything about cloudy amniotic fluid unfortunately). :hugs:

Never heard of cloudy amniotic fluid either. Best wishes to you :)

Yeah my consultant said a little cloudiness is normal, but not to the extent it was showing up on the ultrasound. Shes happy to leave to to thursday so long as a feel 10 movements a day and ive to go in if I ever feel somethings not right before then. So just gotta hope everythings still fine on thursday cause I dont wanna be induced! Thanks everyone x

i hope everything is fine...anyway, seems like you'll get to cuddle your LO soon! wow!

Hi, I am at 41 weeks pregnant and went in for my routine visit and my doctors came across cloudy amniotic fluid. They think it is due to my baby having gone to the bathroom and it mixing in with the amniotic fluid. I went to the hospital and they monitored the heartbeat for 3 hours and released me. They were going to induce me. However, I am not very dilated and the chance of a c-section was high. I figured the best route would be to wait it out...so I have another doctors appt tomorrow. Does anyone have any experience with this?
