Sorry for the OT post, but as the parent of a special needs kid (and special needs myself!) I find the plight of these poor parents appalling. They've been told their mentally ******** daughter will *not* be able to get a life saving kidney transplant, even though family members are willing to donate the kidney for her. What kind of world do we live in when we refuse life saving medical care for someone based solely on their cognitive abilities?

Please sign the following petition to help Children's Hospital of Philadelphia know this is UNACCEPTABLE, and our special needs children have JUST as much right to live as any "normal" child.

The parent's original story is here:

signed i read about this on a uk paper the other day and just felt so sad for the family and mia.

Im about to sign, my son needs a kidney transplant soon and I cannot imagine how upset Amelia's parents are at the decision. I would be beside myself if William was denied his life saving transplant because of mental issues. Its disgusting, everyone deserves a chance.
