Hi ladies

I have had a coldsore since Saturday morning. Its just started going today.

DD2 is nearly 9 weeks. I have not kissed her and been washing my hands loads but I am still worried that I have passed it on to her... !!

Anyone have any experience?! This is my third cold sore had them in the past.

Thanks xx

Just keep doing what you're doing! Washing hands, don't pick at it, don't share utensils and drinks, towels, etc. Not much else you can do!

I came out in a cold sore the day DD was born and it was awful. I've not had a cold sore with DS but DD had one last week and it was a nightmare making sure she didn't kiss DS.

Oh no that must have been awful.

Think I was just being paranoid because my compeed cold sore patch fell off while out shopping arghh.

Feel so much better now. Thanks ladies x

I get them all the time! HUGE ones that last 10 days or so. Absolutely awful

I use the cold sore healing patches too. I use them during the day, and use the medicated cream at night. I still wouldn't kiss the baby with one on, and still wash my hands all the time, but it does make me feel like there is a barrier between the open sore and my kid.

That's exactly how I treat my cold sores. I love the patches makes me feel like my kids are protected and the cold sore is not exposed. Hate them !!

You are doing absolutely every thing right! Just continue to not kiss, share anything, wash your hands, etc.

Do you have Abreva in the UK? It works wonders for me. I started having cold sores when DH accidentally kissed me with once and I get them 1-2x a year. As soon as I notice one I used Abreva right away and it cuts down on the healing time. I also use Carmex, if you have that, that helps conceal as well as makes the cold sore feel better.

They are such a pain! :hugs:

Thanks

I've never heard of Abreva here. I just use another cold sore cream and the patches ..

They are so annoying.. Thanks for all your replies x

Hi, I get them terrible too. I found lysine 100mg really helps. Doesnt get rid but definitely eases x

Well just posted another thread about this.. ive woke up this morning with another one!!. I dont know whats happened.

Anyone know if it could be related the depo injection.

Thanks Midnight Fairy im off to the doctors tomorrow for some lysine tablets!. Have been reading they are very good! X

Speak of the devil for me too, lol. Wrote in your thread here and got one a few days later. :dohh:

Hormones can absolutely cause cold sores. If it continues to persist, I'd speak to your doctor about it.

Ohhh no!!! Must have jinxed yourself!!!

Yeah cannot be having them all the time . Worried sick about the baby getting it !!

Its too much of a coincidence! .

Hope yours goes soon! X

Hormones definitely impact on them, I used to always get them when I was on the pill right when my period was due. I also got two pretty quickly after having my baby, I think one when she was four weeks old, and another only a few weeks after. They really suck but lysine is great. No need for a prescription, you can just get it from the vitamin section of the chemist. There are also some foods that can contribute to cold sores, such as peanuts and chocolate - try to avoid these.

Thanks RaquelDee chocolate lately is my haven when girls are in bed lol... relaxing time.

I will have a look around tomorrow going shopping anyway lol.
Thanks !

When I feel one I take 4x 1000g in one go which is probably not healthy but helps. Then I take about 5 a day!
