Does anyone have some ideas of how we could help relieve our LO colic?

We are on our third day of baby crying from 6-10pm, I have cried so much despite hubby take care of him mostly when he is crying:cry::cry:. I couldnt imagine doing it all by myself. Please help, any suggestions would be great, i just called the hospital and waiting for a call from the doctor.

I'm sooo sorry. We just got out of this and it is truly the hardest thing we've ever gone through in our lives.

First- 6 to 10pm is a common time, probably from a buildup of gas and stimulation during the day. Is LO very stimulated during the day? Simple things like lights and a television can be overwhelming. Is LO going down for a nap every hour to 1.5 hour to rest?

Formula... Dr Brown bottles are very very good for getting the air out.

Remedies... Ovol and Tiny Tummies gas drops are the colic medicines here in Canada (people talk about things like infancol but that's not available here).

Google the "colic hold", it can help. Hold the bottles at 45 degree angle and keep LO upright after feedings - may help with acid.

Good luck with the doctor!!! You will survive this but stay strong, it's very hard.

We used Tommee Tippee anti colic plus bottles with Lily and gave infacol and eventually gripe water (couldnt give that until a month old) and it worked wonders! Hope you get some relief soon, it's awful seeing them crying and feeling helpless :( :hugs: xxx

Definitely either Dr Brown's bottles or TT Anti Colic+ bottles - the ones with the stem down the middle. They can make SO much difference as they really minimise the air being taken in with the milk.

I also agree with keeping your LO more upright when feeding him, again it helps with the air intake.

Infacol may or may not help you, there are also Colief drops (though never used these so don't know what age they can be used for).

Are there any baby massage classes near you? We found it really helped our LO (though she never had true colic, but did have wind problems). Even if you don't have classes near by, then try YouTube for demo videos.

Best of luck :hugs:

I would really really reccomend Apatamil Comfort milk!

Jake had colic and he was really bad. I used infacol and dentinox. They didn't make any difference so the HV told me to stop using them as they can make it worse.

I changed his milk over to comfort and used the TT anti-colic bottles. His colic went almost over night. I've just changed him back over to normal TT bottles but kept him on the same milk and he's fine.

I think sometimes the milk is too rich for their tummies and it makes them have tummy ache. :( He used to get white spots on his tongue too and that's all stopped now!

Unfortunately a lot of the remedies you guys have in the UK are not available in Canada :(

I think the closest one to Aptamil Comfort Milk is Enfamil Gentlease.

Thanks ladies, i took your advice and bought the Canadian version of infacol i believe, based on Aliss recomendations. It seems to have helped for now, this is our first day we will see how the day goes, will update.

We dont have Infacol, Apatamil or Dentinox here, i just switched him to Similac Sensitive hope it works
