Having issues with my son and formula. Started him on Cow & Gate but he was projectile vomiting and was very constipated. So switched to Aptamil but still having the same problem. I've read some really good things about Hipp Organic milk and my friend also recommended it so I was thinking of switching again to that but my health visitor said they don't really recommend it because it doesn't have all the nutrients of SMA, Cow & Gate, Aptamil, etc. Does anyone have any experience with Hipp Organic? I've actually never come across Hipp Organic formula but the fact it has Organic in the brand name makes me think it would be good? x

By law all baby milks have to have the same basic formulation and nutrients, so Hipp should be just as good as the others nutritionally. I'd say just try something different and see what works for you. Hipp is more expensive by volume (same price as the others but it's a smaller package). We actually had horrible problems on Hipp (projectile vomiting after every feed and terrible reflux to the point she would scream in pain after as well, it was awful!). Switched back to cheap ole Cow and Gate and it went away instantly and I never had another problem again. Personally, I'd prefer to use a different first stage milk than the comfort milk as that has added junk they don't need and doesn't benefit them nutritionally. It might just be you need to use something different. Most people have a good experience with Hipp though, so it's worth a try if you don't mind the extra expense. Has he been checked for reflux? If you can't find something that works, maybe do down that route because it might be treating that will make it easier to find something that works for him.

Thanks for your reply. I think I'm just going to stick with Aptamil for a bit anyway just because I'm now in two minds about Hipp as good old google found me a few stories of Hipp not being very good. He's only been on Aptamil for a couple of days anyway so it may just take a while to settle with him. At least today, he had his first poo that was runny-ish again which is the first time in days and days. He didn't even go yesterday. And no projectile vomiting so far today so fingers crossed, although he did yesterday - never seen anything like it, sicky babies is a very new experience to me. My son was hardly ever sick.

I may take him to the doctors if he does start the vomiting again as I think health visitors only know so much. She didn't even mention reflux but it has crossed my mind. I guess where he's only 2 weeks, perhaps it's too early to tell? My friend said that she had no doubt that her little girl had it as she didn't stop crying. Apart from the constipation where he strains so hard to go and the vomiting, he doesn't seem bothered at all. He only cries when he's hungry, has wind or needs his bum changing xx
