Does anyone have a better way of making up comfort milk? We were using Aptamil 1 but having problems so switched to Aptamil comfort, which is much thicker and it sometimes leaves lumps in it. I have read online this can be down to being mixed with room-temp water rather than boiled/hot water. But as you arent supposed to pre-make bottles what can i do to get them to mix better?

Thanks x

Pre-make them. We do and they are fine. Unless your baby feeds on a very firm schedule trying to make them up and cool them down will turn into a nightmare. All I would say with the comfort milks is that they tend to separate when left to stand, so when getting them out of the fridge make sure to give them a very good shake so it all mixes back round.

yep pre-make them using boiled water. you will find that it settles and seperates in the fridge - just give it a shake before warming. we used to make 4 up at a time. they will last for 24hrs. once warmed throw away after 2 hrs.

i used to stir mine when making up rather than shaking the bottle, stops u from getting scalded. If you leave it half hour after the kettle has boiled the water should be the right temp to mix. HTH

I do exactly the same as the ladies above! I do always mix with a spoon as I use Dr Brown's bottles so shaking would be a disaster! Haha!

We use Dr Browns as well. Mothercare (online only) sell travel caps which make shaking possible!

Yip, I had to make them with boiling water so it would dissolve, then i'd rapid cool them in sink and keep in fridge.
