Lately LO has been really fussy after he has a bottle. I wind every oz, and use infacol before feeds but he's still really fussy. He'll start crying, screw his face up in pain and sometimes fart then stop crying. I definitely think he's having some trouble with wind, and it's making him super fussy, I feel so sorry for him.

Anyhow I've heard comfort milk is better for controlling wind etc but my health visitor seems to think it's the devil. Every midwife I've seen has said not to switch as well. Apparently it's really startchy & it's like giving LO a cake for lunch rather than a tuna sandwich  HV said it'll make him fat

My mummy instinct is telling me to give comfort milk a go.

I currently use aptimil, so will switch to the hungry baby one.

What do you guys think? Any positive stories with comfort milk for windy/colicky/reflux babies? Any negatives?

Put it this way, id much much rather give him comfort milk than hungry baby!! Comfort milk will not make him fat. No milk will :dohh:

We have used comfort for 7 1/2 months now, worked great for us, we still need to use gripe water to bring up wind, but it isnt made to help with bring up wind so you cant really hold that against the comfort milk lol.

xx

I thought hungry baby was comfort? I'd it by aptimil? Totally confused lol.

Hungry baby and Comfort are completely differnt. Aptamil makes both x

Hungry baby is complete opposite to comfort milk hon, hu grey baby has extra starch and proteins in making it harder to digest and keeping baby fuller for longer. Comfort milk is partially digested making it easier for baby to digest and lessening any tummy problems and wind. We used it from two weeks until only a few weeks ago and was fantastic xx

Given your situation I would defo switch to comfort. I dont know where your HV is getting off, but shes very wrong! My LO isnt fat and she was on it for 6 months.

Sounds like your LO is suffering, poor thing, give comfort a go...I wouldnt use HB for what your describing.

My LO was on comfort milk from 2 weeks old. Only just switched to follow on milk at 6 months a few weeks ago. She really liked comfort, and it really eased her troubles, similar to your LO. Just a point though, comfort is thicker than normal stage 1 so you may need stage 2 teats (from 3 months) and get ready for the explosive nappies for a while xx

I think the hv has gotton confused with hungry baby, it's not really suitable for babies that small but comfort milk will be fine hon, was recommended by my hv xx

Hi Samantha :flower:

As you know, my LO is on comfort milk, she only started it monday, but I noticed an immediate improvement, she can now drink her feeds much better

I would say give it a go....Hope it makes your LO more comfortable :baby:

Im pleased to read everyone elses comments, as after you mentioned (on another thread) what your HV had said, I was a little cocerned about my LO having it!

Thanks girlies!

I think HV might have thought I suggested hungry milk. I'm gonna send OH to get some comfort milk as soon as he does the weekly shop this weekend  if it were going to help LO, would I notice it straight away or after a couple of weeks? I hear when you switch milk it takes a couple of weeks for it to show any improvements?

We put Ava on Cow & Gate Comfort and she was like a different baby!
Just wish we did it sooner! x

How do you mean different hun? Did she have similar problems to my LO?
She was very colicy, we tried Infacol but it only worked for a few days. She would scream so much at her feeds, then would just point blank refuse them & she never brought wind up. Now she burps for Britain and has no problems what so ever! xx

Aw bless her, glad it worked for you. My LO doesn seem to have any problem burping lol, he brings up some massive ones sometimes...it's just his gas, I think it's hard for him to pass/has tummy pains relating to gas.

It can take upto 2 weeks to see any difference so you do have to stick with it for a while x

im wondering if this would help my lo aswell, she doesnt have a problem drinking the milk in fact she gulps it down which is probably half the problem but she can have really bad tummy aches after. weve been using infacol but tbh not seen any improvement. She also brings up a couple of burps after the feed its just the belly ache thats the problem for her she crys in pain and i have to rub her belly to relieve it. Do you think this is worth me trying for her we are currenlty on aptamil stage 1 aswell x

I had to move to stage 2 teats & sometimes it still gets a little 'stuck'! :dohh:

Hi Sam I've just been and bought some today to start to try, don't know if I should use up the aptimil 1 first or just swap over. we had a bad night last night because of the belly aches. Hope it works for her its awful seeing them in pain.

I've had to move to stage 2 teats aswell but just on the normal milk because she was fussy and couldn't get the milk fast enough. I was a bit worried about it as it says 3 months on the box but read on here that a lot of people moved there lo's on earlier than this.

You'll have to let us know how you get on with the comfort milk hun x
