Compression stockings

Hi all, I had an emcs on 10th January and am slowly recovering. Still find it hard to imagine a time when my body will return to semi normal though! Anyway I was just wondering how long everyone wore their compression stockings for? I had conflicting info from the hospital and from the community midwife. I'm going to buy some more as one pair just isn't enough.

I wore mine constantly for first 3 or 4 days then only when my legs looked very swollen. Was about 2 weeks before my legs were back to normal.

I'm 7 weeks post emcs and I'm really only starting to feel like I'm recovering fully in this past week. You'll get there!!!

I think I wore mine for just under a week. I had an emcs, too (previous posts will tell you how crazy it was). I felt completely fine and was literally dancing at my sister's wedding 3 1/2 weeks later. I still couldn't drive and I wore my "brace" around my belly for another few weeks, but I felt perfectly fine and human again.

You'll get there. It takes some people longer than others. I'm going in for another CS in about a month!

I was told to wear mine for 6 weeks. For the first few weeks I only took then off when I showered, then I began leaving them off a little longer each day, eventually only wearing them over night.

I was given 2 pairs, maybe ask your MW or doctor for some more?

I haven't had a C section, but I had spine surgery and got the socks afterward. My doctors told me that I just had to wear them until I started moving around consistently (which was about a week and with a walker). They told me that they were used to discourage blood clots because of lack of activity and circulation. So if that's the case, then you would be wearing them until you get back on your feet after recovery. It's longer for some than others, I am sure.

I didn't even get any or told to wear them!! Just actually realised that now!

I had to have injections in my stomach for a week after to stop blood clotting

I wore mine right after the c section until the spinal block wore off, as soon as I was able to feel my feet I was up moving around. And when I was in bed I was still rotating my ankles, moving my lower legs, etc. So the nurse and I didn't feel the need to leave them on (I work on a surgery floor in our hospital, so I was trying to be a model patient).

i wore them for 4 days and then the mw told me to at least wear them in bed when Im least active but kept forgetting! not had any problems.
my last section i was given no advice on how long to wear them for

I only wore them for the 2 days I was in hospital. As soon as I was up and about there didn't seem any need and I wasn't told to wear them at home.

i had an 'elective' section, so there was loads of time and u think they would have been organised, but they never gave me any! only after surgery someone said 'where are ur stockings?' they never did give me any tho! i ddint even get any until after surgery with my first, i took them off the next day wen showering anyway :0

My first CS wore for a week just while in hospital, 2nd one they didn't give me any!
