Confused about disability benefits (UK)

Hi, my son was recently awarded DLA (middle rate care, lower rate mobility) and i was advised to apply for Carer's Allowance. I got the letter last week to say i'm entitled to CA but i just wanted to know how this affects Income Support and Child Tax credit? I've already had a letter telling me that my IS will be reduced as i'll be receiving CA but will my Tax Credits also be reduced as CA is counted as income?????

I think your tax credits should actually go up hun not down? Ring up and check xx

sorry just re-read, no tax credits stay same or go up xx Mine went up £80 a week after getting CA and DLA. x

Thanks for the reply any idea how long it normally takes for them to process the change of circumstances and do u know if they'll backdate it? Thanks xx

I think I got the TC new award about a month after the dla and yes they backdated it a month or 2. xx
