I’m confused! Went for my cycle monitoring today (CD13). Each time I go there is always a different doctor. When I originally started at the clinic I had a consultation with a certain doctor and he suggested 2 IUI’s and if I haven’t’ become pregnant then go back and see him. He prescribed me 25 mg of clomid (a lose dose). Last month I only had one follicle, and this month the same only one. Then the doc that looked at my results this morning, was like we should put you on 50 mg the next IUI so we can get some more follicles. I said I would have to think about it.

My husband and I originally had committed to 2 IUI’s as the doctor suggested, but now today this other doctor mentions this and now I’m totally confused. Will 50 mg help me gain more follicles, should I take another chance? Confused ugh don’t need this right now! I was looking forward to a break from all of this. I hate these hormones and injections going into my body. But if I take a break, will it be less effective if I decide I want to do the 50 mg down the road?

On a brighter note my follicle is nice and big, tomorrow I will get the trigger and the IUI procedure will be Friday.

To be honest ive never heard of less than 50mg being prescribed. I took Clomid on and off for 2 years and never had less than 50mg. It depends on how you feel. My DH and i agreed to 3 IUI's then we found out (after the first IUI) that my left tube is in fact blocked for sure (and i'd ovulated on the left) so that was a waste. The second IUI i got pregnant.

In Feb i took 50mg Clomid, i had 2 large follicles on the left and 2 small on the right then in March took 100mg of Clomid and only had 2 decent follicles on the right. A trigger shot and IUI later and today's ultrasound revealed fraternal twins !

Personally I would suggest ultrasound monitoring and if you're not comfortable with the follicles than skip the IUI !

I too have never heard of a clomid dose that low.

Why did they prescribe it (do you usually have trouble ovulating on your own? does your husband have sperm issues?)? How long have you been ttc? How do they think IUI will help? Is your clinic an actual fertility clinic, or regular md's office? If you're open to sharing more information it could really be helpful :flower:

Taking a break will not make future attempts less effective, the effect of the meds and your efforts is not cumulative if that makes sense. If you need a break, absolutely take one. And if you're thrown off by seeing so many different docs who don't seem to be on the same page you absolutely have the right to speak up and ask for an explanation. If you don't like what's happened so far and have too many doubts, switching clinics when you're ready to resume your efforts is ok too!
