Confused about p4 level and period

Hey everyone, I’m new here. I just started trying , and went off my BC about 6 weeks ago. I didn’t get a period which I expect as I always had irregular periods and problems ovulating in the past. Well I had blood drawn this past Tuesday which showed progesterone 6.4. They said that means you ovulated, wait for menses and come in on days 2,3 or 4 for more blood work and u/s. Well later that day I started spotting and had spotting on and off for the next 3 days, last night it got a little heavier so I put a tampon in. I have mild cramps, it definitely feels like a period but wouldn’t a progesterone of 6 happen only a day or 2 after ovulation occurred? So I’m confused and was hoping one of you had experience with this and could shed some light as my doctor isn’t open today and if I do need to go in it would be Monday. Thanks!
