confused about TENS

i'm hoping to have a water birth with minimal pain relief.
i'd like to use a TENS machine but i am now confused - when do you start using it and for how long? i thought i could use it all the time, but then realised that i will have to take it off once i get in the water or otherwise i'll be electrocuting myself??

I think you have to be 4cm before you can go in pool, so you'd use it before then i think x

so you'd use it at home before going to the birthing center for example?

yes you put it on when your contractions get painful the earlier the better for best results and you will have to take it off before getting in the pool
