Hello everyone

As the title of this thread says - I am confused and frustrated.

It has been 2.5 years of ttc with charting and 11 other years of no protection. Tests have come back normal for DH and I, so we are left confused and frustrated.

At this point I am losing my mind looking at possible explanations, symptoms dpo, and what I can do to improve my chances.

Would anyone be willing to share what they think worked?
Things like how often you BD?
Do you use preseed?
Anything

Thank you so much

Hey Hun, sorry go hear that things aren't going to plan. Have you not been referred to a fertility specialist for IUI or IVF?x x

Thank you so much for your reply and support.

I am awaiting an appointment next week. The doctors didn't want to refer me and kept putting it off because I am young - 27 - but I have been with my DH for 13 years, married 3. Then when I finally got a referal from another doctor I moved and had to cancel the appointment. Now I will finally get chance to see someone.

How are you doing? I see that your name says that you are in IVF limbo land. I am hoping for you!

Thanks again

What kind of things have you tried so far?
Do you know when you ov?
We have problems on myh oh part, so hes on vits. I have just started temping and I use ov test strips. I have also just started using instead cups this cycle too.

Did you seriously start TTC when you were 14/16 years old? Migod.

Anyway....you are not too young for a referral so hopefully you will start getting somewhere at some point. Pre-seed is good if you don't produce enough cervical mucus and you could try taking herbal supplements to try to see if you can increase your fertility that way. Those are the only natural suggestions I can think of. Do you use OPKs? Invaluable.

I have been using OPK and identify ovulation, I have had a blood test to prove I do ovulate. I chart tracking bbt, cm, cp. I have just ordered preseed - who knows worth a try.

What are instead cups - I think I have heard of them - where did you get it and how do you use them.

Thank you for your reply

It is not that we were ttc at 14, but we were unwise and not careful since then, which led us to think we would have problems down the road and here we are.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Hoping for all the best for you.

Hun have you had a lap or scans? Small procedure where they look inside you. Check your tubes and your ovaries. This is very important! Good luck

Instead cups used for AF rather than a tampon, but a lot of women use them for ttc as it keeps the sperm inside and close to the cervix.
There are a few threads on LTTTC which you may find useful.

Thanks for you input.

I haven't had scans as I couldn't get a doctor to refer me. Hopefully next week is the start of some testing for me. It is a hard balance between hoping nothing is wrong and hoping to find a problem so that hopefully it can be fixed.

Congratulations to you and I hope everything goes well for you.

We were TTC for 2 years and when we were going through the infertility evaluations, we had the same frustrating results - everything looks OK, they have no idea, etc.

The only thing they found was that my thyroid hormone level was borderline (sometimes even out of the "normal range", depending on laboratory). I said that I'd like to try to take some thyroid tablets, and after three months, I got pregnant (we were already booked to start IVF).

I don't know if it was the thyroid thing or not, but what I found frustrating is that my doctor noticed this possible problem already 2 years ago, when I did pre-TTC blood checkup with him, but didn't prescribe anything.

As for your other questions, we did try Preseed and that didn't help.

I also tried cleaning up my diet, kicking my coffee habit and cut alcohol consumption to a minimum (i'm the glass of wine with dinner type, otherwise). None of this helped.

When we finally conceived, I was back on coffee and and was also drinking the occasional glass of wine.

Congratulations first of all on your very exciting and long awaited happiness.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am going to ask the doctor about this. Years ago my blood work came back that my thyroid was normal, but I was having a strange feeling in my throat. When they did a radioactive scan - they found out that I did have a thyroid problem, but they said that no medication was necessary because it didn't show as a problem in my blood tests.

Our bodies are so crazy some times and we try everything like no caffiene, no alcohol, no this, no that, more of this, less of that, and still we have no results.

Thank you again for sharing with me. I will talk to the doctors about it on Tuesday.

Thanks szaffi

sandt2, I don't know what is considered normal, but my numbers for TSH were not that bad; around 3.90-4.50 which is considered ok by most labs. I had one result, where it was way off (6.15) but otherwise in the high "normal" range. I don't know if our pregnancy is attributable to it or not. Also, people told me that if you start taking the hormone, it takes about 3 months to balance your system. I fell pregnant exactly the third month after I started taking it.

I hope that this will help, but good luck in any case, and don't give up. I know how frustrating your situation is, but keep strong!
