Hi all

So my period was due on Saturday and by Monday it hadn't arrived so I took a first response test, the line was faint but it was there and a clear blue digital on Tuesday evening confirmed a BFP. However yesterday I've had what felt like a period - cramping, regular bleeding, dizzyness and sickness. There have been no clots but the bleeding is just the same today (sorry tmi)

I'm guessing I've had a chemical pregnancy that has resulted in a miss carriage. I'm so upset as I've been TTC for around 2.5 years now. I guess my question is do I need to see a doctor or just suck up my crappy feelings and carry on trying next month?

Oh and I'm from the uk so my healthcare is nhs, I suppose they'd just say I was wasting their time anyway? Im just feeling so low now, I know you shouldn't take an early pregnancy test as a given but I'd got myself so excited :(

I would call the Dr. It's not a waste of time to make sure everything is okay.

I agree, call the doctor because honestly you never know, good or bad, so better to get checked out and be reassured. :hugs:

Call the doctor, make sure all is ok. You should never have to suck up your crappy feelings, it's such a hard journey for us TTC. If you need to chat we are here to support you xxx

Hi again,

Just thought I'd post an update as I'm always really disappointed when there is t any on threads! Anyway I called the nhs direct as I was having awful stomach cramps and just wanted a bit of advice, I just wanted them to confirm I needed to see a doctor really. Well they were lovely and told me to make an appointment with my GP straight away...well unfortunately "lovely" isn't the case when describing the pitbul receptionists at my doctor's surgery.

They asked what the problem was, I vaguely told them and said I'd been told by the nhs to give them a ring. SHE ACTUALLY SIGHED and said she'd get a doctor to ring me back. So after 5 hours I got a call from my GP who confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy, that they're actually really common and all the other usual stuff. But then he said the most insensitive thing ever, he obviously had all my notes in front of him and actually uttered the words....

"Congratulations! Now you know you can get pregnant!"

Erm. You've just told me I was pregnant and now I'm not. How is that worth congratulating? Especially as at the time I was incredibly upset as my high spirits of getting. BFP had been stomped on. I just felt totally patronised! Sorry to rant!

So now I'm halfway through my second cycle after my lap and dye, I was pretty sleepy from the op when they told me what I needed to do but I'm pretty sure I need to go through three cycles before going back to the infertility clinic. So now it's just the waiting game.

I'm sorry your Dr is an insensitive jerk :( I really hope you get your sticky BFP soon.

Pretty much almost exactly the words uttered to us by a doctor when we had a chemical after our first 6 months TTC...

"Well, you have proven you CAN conceive"

After over 2, nearly 3 years those words have not got us anywhere. :growlmad:

That doesn't sound very professional to diagnose you on the phone. I'd change doctors. I'm so sorry for your loss :hugs:

:hugs: That wasn't handled very professionally on their half.
