I am slightly confused over the difference, if any, between a D&C and a ERPC. I had an incomplete miscarriage where i bled, heartbeat stopped but products still in place. I was offered, and accepted, the ERPC option.

Other people mention the D&C option but is it one and the same?

Hi Hun, so sorry about your loss.

From what I can make out they are one and the same, just called two different things. When I spoke to my doctors I refer to it as D&C as that is what I know it by however I'm fairly sure on my form they put ERPC.

Hope this is of some help and hope you're doing ok x

Hi there
Sorry to hear about your loss.
As far as I know, the difference is in the method used. D&C is scraping of the womb. With an ERPC they use a vaccum. So the foetus is sucked out, and there is less risk of damage.
Hope this helps
