I had my implant out 28 days ago. My doc told me to count that as CD1 even though I had no AF. We've been BDing roughly every other day since then as I had no idea when I would ovulate. I've used OPK (cheap ones) on a few days but not every day and got BFN. Prior to my implant I had a 28 day cycle so I'm assuming I should be due AF today. I do have some cramps but so far nothing. For the last week or so I have had a lot of clear odourless, watery discharge which I've never had before.
I know I should just give it time and wait to see what happens, but as we all know that's easier said than done!
Has anyone else had anything similar or have any advice for us? We are TTC #1.
Thanks and baby dust to you all

Hey eviemoo,

I'm not doctor, but I was given different advice when I had the implant removed (I wasnt trying to get pregnant then) but was told to wait until my period came for the first time and then go from there as normal, chart too because often can take several months to see any kind of pattern after coming off of any contraception.

I use the billings ovulation method for charting, although most ladies on here seem to use the one on fertility friend. It's a useful tool for sussing out what's going on and when .. and more importantly recognise the signs of ovulation yourself so you know when you should be dtd.

Much easier said than done this being patient milarkie, I used to be so laid back and now I'm a hormone driven loon ball... welcome to the dark side :P

Fingers crossed for you and partner that it happens really soon for you guys :) :dust: for you :)

Thanks Pamcakes
How long did it take for you to have a period? I was on depo before I had my implant and haven't had a proper period for years! If I'd known how much my body would be messed up by all the contraception I've used over the years I'd just have stuck to condoms! I just hope that I haven't done too much damage!

Did you get a positive OPK? If so then you can just wait for af or test 2-3 weeks after. If not, I wouldn't treat the doctor's cd1 advice as any real indication... Just wait til you get af and start there at cd1. It sounds like something they tell you because it's convenient.

hey again :)

I'm a different story so probably not too much help to you (although will give you reason to be hopeful). I was put on triptoreline treatment to put me through 6 months of chemical menopause to give my entire body a break (was losing far too much blood with every period, severly anaemic) previous to that I had tried the pill, the implant, depo and the coil (all from the ages of 13 - 24). When I came off triptorelin it took me 8 months to have a period, was charing the whole time, and having bloods taken. Then when period came the charts (and doctor) worked out I only ovulate once every few months. Now I seem to ovulate one in two, but this is the first month it looks like I'm going to ovulate for a second month in a row *very excited*.

Realistically it has taken the best part (if i do ovulate this month) of 17months to get my cycle back to "normal". The chart was a fantastic aid for working all of this out as I know I was a special circumstance being given all those blood tests every month.

Try not to dwell on it too much, your cycle should settle down may just take some time. Like I said 11 years of contraception then a very extreme treatment with the triptorelin and mine have come back. However if they don't or your worried pop along to your gp and explain and ask for some blood tests or to see a gynae consult also show your doctor your chart, they should be able to suss out what's going on straight away from that.

Let me know how you get on :) Keeping everything crossed for you x
