Hi

Hubbie went for a scan of hs bits 2 weeks ago as has some lumps. Was told at tme a couple of cysts - nothing to worry about, wouldnt be reason not conceiving. So happy we were! Until...

Got letter from Hospital today. Really confused.
1st paragraph was saying he had a very large spermatocele 6x6cm and that Gynae dr was taking advice from a Urologist but chances are would need surgery to get this removed. Said the surgery is basically along the lines of a vasectomy in order to remove the thing! Then second para said that he should contact this chappy immediately in order to get his sperm frozen so we can conceive in the future! arrrrggghhh!

Dont want to conceive in future want to do it now!

dont know what all the implications are here
1. is this causing the fertility problem, so on a no win situ, keeps lump cant conceive, gets ir removed cant conceive.
2. is freezing sperm our only option cant they do something now, cos Im loosing confidence in my fertility clinic, re my HSG and now this!

Anyone had problems with a spermatocele!?

Hubbie is going to phone our gynae dr today and ask wot is going on, shouldnt we wait until seen urologist and decision re op been made before going down the freezing route.

Nightmare!!

Hey D

What a total nightmare?!!

Can't believe they didn't speak to you both in person so that you could have a Q&A session to discuss it?

Is your DH in pain with it? I know that they can't go by themselves so they require surgery??

It sounds like the FS is saying that ICSI would be your only option chick - had they not mentioned it before the letter? I am so sorry for the way they handled it, it's really awful :hugs:

Is it any immediate danger to him? If not why can't you wait till you do IVF with fresh sperm from him, then freeze some and then get his surgery?

The only reason why I said this is because fresh sperm has far better ICSI success rates than frozen sperm.

Please let us know what the gynae said and how you're getting on.

Hi

The Dr called us back eventually and after a lot of probing - wasnt very forthcoming, answer was that the lump in testes is very large and at danger of twisting at any moment if that happens then basically emergency op and no babies so need to get sperm frozen asap. No win situ really unless get preg asap before either twisting or op, been trying 3 years - so unlikely. So looks like we wont be able to do this ourselves, very sad!

Are you in the UK, or other?

My Oh had really terrible treatment when he had a lump.
Our doc emergency refered him as the lump 'didnt feel right' so he got seen about a month later!! We waited for 2 hours before we were seen no appology for being late the doctor had a quick grope, and said 'Oh don't know what you were worrying about theres nothing there, all normal anatomy' and that was it. 5 mins later!
Neither of us were very happy as obviously our doc didnt think something was right so we had a second opinion from our doc and the consultant was queried.
