Okay, dd was born July 19th, 2 weeks early due to low amniotic fluid. Shes perfect and we couldnt be happier..except for her eating. She seems to throw up almost everything we give her, and shes always gassy. At her first check up the dr weighed her and she had only gained 3oz so she suggsted we try feeding her more formula more frequently. Well we did and she still puked up EVERYthing. So, at the next appointment she had only gained 4oz and I told the dr she cant keep anything down unless we feed her 1oz every hour or so which is reaking havoc on our sleep schedule and any schedule, so dd was always cranky. Does anyone have any suggestions?? We switched her to a gentle formula for sensative tummies..thanks!!

And just a fun poll..I have brown eyes and dh has blue eyes, what color eyes does dd look like she has? I know they can change up to a year of age, but to me they look blue but my sil insists their brown :)

My son threw up a lot and has reflux, which is much more common in preemies... Also, he had a lot of gas, and he has a milk allergy. Maybe you should discuss switching formulas with her doctor. If your doctor doesn't seem helpful, maybe you should see a specialist. A gastroenterologist who works with babies would really be able to help you figure out what the problem is and how to fix it.

And her eyes definitely look like they will either be brown or hazel to me. My son's eyes were a very dark blue when he was born, and when he turned about 2 weeks old, they turned to VERY dark brown (like mine).

I'm not sure about the throwing up but those eyes look as if they are going to go hazel to me:hugs:

During her feeds- maybe try stopping for a "rest" period every 1-2oz. We had to do this with our LO as she spit up ALL the time... this seemed to help. Also, I'm sure they have suggested already- but keeping LO propped up after a feed for a good 15-20 mins also might help. We even put our LO to sleep in a rock-n-play sleeper so she was at an angle and slept very well in it. It's honestly about trial and error and see what works best for your LO- sorry I've not great help.

As for eye color- they look similar to how my LO's eyes looked at first. Kinda dark grey/blue color- but her's are now a mix of grey/blue/green/brown and look different in differnt lights and everyone says they are a different color (somet think green, others brown etc...). LOL. They are just a good mix I think ;)

I might try to find a gastro then :( My dr just says try feeding her more in smaller amounts and thats about it. Sometimes she pukes and its like the exorcist and shoots everywhere! And other times its just a small amount, but you can never tell what shes going to do. Thanks for the advice :)

And really?? Her eyes seem pretty light to me to turn brown! The lighting in my house sucks too, so that may play a part in my picture lol when you look at them they dont seem to have any dark in them, but maybe that doesnt matter..hmm..I know I have to wait and see, but shes a month old and they dont seem to have gotten any darker, just more blueish :baby::baby:

Here is when she was a newborn and more recent... really hard to see her multi-colored eyes though in pics- they just end up looking hazel or really dark... LOL... in person, close up, there are many colors- but from far off, they all kinda blend. Gives you an idea though ;) she ended up with her grandpa's eye color- the one in the same piccy. I have blue, hubbies has brown and my SD has green... so we say she didn't want to pic and took them all. haha- they are still kinda grey/blue on the outside, then more green, then brownish in the middle... ;)

I had this exact problem with DD. She was born 3 weeks early (due to my obstetric cholestasis) and she was puking non stop. She lost a pound in the first week, and she was small to begin with. She would not gain. I started formula feeding to help monitor what she was taking in, but she still puke constantly. I was feeding 1-1.5 oz every 1-2 hours and she still wasn't gaining weight. It took a whole month for her to just get back to her birth weight, which, I was told they should be back at by 2 weeks at the absolute latest. She was hovering between 3rd-8th percentile even though she was born at 50th percentile (for a 37 weeker).

We tried every formula, we made sure to prop her up during and after feeds, we fed slow with lots of burp breaks...We had blood tests and even a stomach ultrasound. Nothing helped. Then we were referred to a pediatrician. The pediatrician prescribed her ranitadine for reflux. This was 2 months ago and since then my little girl has nearly doubled in weight and is making her back toward the 50th percentile. She still spits up a lot, but nothing like it was before.

As far as formula goes she was originally on Enfamil A+ and puking it all up. I figured she probably had a milk allergy so we tried her on Alimentum (hypoallergenic, no soy or dairy) for a while. She was a bit better on that, so we tried Isomil (Soy). She seemed okay on that, so we tried Similac Sensitive and found it gave her constant explosive diarrhea that a diaper cannot contain, as well as little red bumps all over her.

Someone suggested Nestle/Gerber Good Start because while it is milk based, the proteins are broken down so they are easier to digest. She has been on it for a few weeks now and is not having diarrhea or any reaction to it. She still eats very frequently, often 2oz every 1.5 - 2 hours. Sometimes she will take 4oz and last 3 hours, but she will never take more than 4oz!

Cute baby!!
I just wanted to say that I have a spitter upper too, but I noticed that one formula in particular, gerber goodstart gentle, made her spit up tons!!! The other formulas she would spit up a little here and there, or sometimes a big spit up (I think it's kinda normal to some degree) but with the gerber she would spit up 3/4 of what I gave her. You might want to try a different formula before doing any tests etc just to see (if your dr is ok with it!) Not sure what the eye color will turn out to be but I bet they will be beautiful!!
