Hello ladies is anyone out there suffered constipation after cs am having a difficult time.Am afraid of eating as am bleeding.

Meeeeee!!

Its awful isn't it!! I had to get MW to give me something as had proper tummy ache and was starting to feel sick.

Beyond that, try and drink plenty of water and eat some fruit!

I had that problem. My movements have recently just gone back to normal. It was a nightmare.

Have you tried senokot or something for constipation?

When I left the hospital, they prescribed me stool softeners & told me they would give me laxatives if I hadnt pooped by a week after my c section.

Try not to worry about it too much - it took me 5 days after he was born to finally poop - and it was not nearly as bad as i thought it would be!

I went 5 days after the birth. Was such a relief! I got lactulose from hospital, drank orange juice, ate fig biscuits and prunes.

I had this... and a painful and very noisy tummy which kept bubbling and gurgling. They said the bowel does not like to be touched and in getting my big baby boy out (emergency c section) they touched the bowel and upset it. I found peppermint tea and tablets helped.

lots of fresh orange juice, fresh fruit ect :)
i also got piles (yuk) but i bit of cream and they were gone in a few days :)

Oh hon, it's SO normal with the pain medications! You need to take a stool softener, that'll help! :hugs:

I had major constipation after my last C-section and I ended up having an anal fissure. And then it was extremely painful to have a bowel movement and there was lots of bleeding and every time I went it reopened the fissure. It was 2 months of hell. I was afraid to go so I held it so then when I went it was worse. I thought it would never get better but it sort of just did. Stool softeners and water are your best friend.

I was prescribed lactulose and they gave me a big bottle to take home. You can get it if you ask at the counter at your chemist (or ask GP to prescribe you a bottle). I also found that peppermint tea really helped :)

Thank you for this post!! I'm only day 2 after a c section with triplets and it feels like my intestines have been filled with air and tied into knots. I just started passing gas and I'm not sure if I'm more afraid of continued pain from burbling and gurgling digestion, or from the actual BM when it finally happens.

Same here- day 3 and started passing gas last night, I can watch the gas bubbles go across my tummy as if LO is still in there!

I have bowel trouble anyway, so am not looking forwards to my first BM.

Take Fybogel in the UK with plenty of water. Any other place its any fibre supplement containing psyllium husk and drink plenty of water. That really helped me.

Oh god it was awful! I finally attempted to go at 7 days after the section. Its fair to say I was in agony by then.

I went to the bathroom and nothing happened for aaages, then the worst happened - I started but couldnt finish!!! literally was stuck (apologies for tmi!). Its fair to say that I was completely horrified, the brakes had gone on just that little bit too far along so that I was stuck on the loo halfway through the mission. I am quite a private person so having to shout for my OH to please deliver my mobile to me so that I could call for help whilst sat on the loo was mortifying!!

In the end I swallowed my pride (not that there is much dignity left after nurses mopping you up and changing you after a c-section!), called the midwife, explained the dilemma I was in and she said to get glycerin suppositories to whack up there to soften and lubricate so that passing it will be more easy. Cue the second horrifying moment of explaining to OH exactly what the problem was and sending him out to the pharmacy immediately to get the glycerin bullets for me.

After some unpleasant logistical maneouvering (which I wont go into), I managed to get to the situation where I was safe to stand up again, when OH amusedly handed over the emergency bullets, I popped one in and spent 20 minutes pacing around, clenching like mad. After 20 minutes I couldnt take it any more, dashed back to the loo, the bullet worked wonders and the BM progressed easily. A heavenly feeling after being backed up for a week!...Heavenly until the toilet then blocked!!!!
