Constipation or wind?

Hi all,

First of all, let me say that I feel pretty stupid asking this especially as it's about my second child. I've just forgotten so much since my first was born.

For the last couple of days, my 7 week old hasn't pooed. I can see that she is trying to go but is really struggling and seems to be quite uncomfortable. As I said, I feel a bit silly but it's hard to tell if this could be constipation or colic? I'm winding for a bit longer after feeds (bottle-fed btw) to see if that helps. What I wanted to know is, is it OK to give my baby cooled boiled water inbetween feeds? Maybe an ounce or two? I keep reading that it is safe but then that it's not. I've also been trying bicycle movements with her legs and rubbing her stomach gently to try and relieve her. I know for colic you can use gripe or infacol but what about constipation?

Any tips would be gratefully received.

Hv told me to give him an ounce of cooled boiled water to help his constipation he's 4 weeks old. It didn't really help him though so we decided to change him onto the comfort milk (he was having a poo once every 3 days) he's now pooping regular and doesn't cry and seem in pain as much as before sometimes have to lie him down and lift his legs up to give him a little help. Good luck
