well i have my 36 week appt tomorrow with the consultant to discuss vabc or elective c-section!! at 16 weeks the consultant asked what i wanted to do and at the time i was adament i was going to go for vabc, however as the weeks have gone on and baby has grown (measuring on the large side ) i am strting to think that an elective c-section will be best all round as i have a 19mth old to consider and trying to go naturally and then ending up with an emcs i just wont be able to plan her child care, where as if i opt for elective section for the 6 week recovery i will have OH at home for the first 3 weeks, mum off for the 4th week and then for weeks 5 and 6 my mum only works Wed, thurs, and saturday / oh works mon - friday so the only days i will need help will be wed and thurs for the 2 weeks and my nan and Oh mum have said that they will take time off to help!!

i just wondered if you ladies had any words of advise. at my 16 week app they had encouraged me to think about elective section but since the midwives have been trying to put me off. so me and the medical staff seem to have switched sides!!

xx

All I would suggest is to stick with what you want and don't let them talk you round. I was told it'd be best to have an elec section all the way through and then at my 36 week appt I saw a registrar not my consultant and they were all for me doing Vbac, when i got her to agree to section she then went on to say if you go into labour naturally we'll try vbac. But as it all turns out i had an op a few yrs ago and they don't want me to push, but she never read my notes, but if i hadn't have spoken up i would have probably been pushed into vbac. Stick to your guns, good luck x x

stick to your guns and push for what you want not them. That is the only advice I can get as I was determined to have an elective C-section and finally the ob and my psychiatrist have both agreed and set the date but it took alot of determination and reasoning and I needed to really plead my case. if you want a vbac then fight for it, at least let yourself have a trial of labour if its your wish unless you are really anxious then there is no reason they should say no to a second C-section
my sister in law in the uk had an emcs and has been told she can automatically have an elective next time which is what she wants

thanks ladies, well section booked for 5th june.... 25 days !!!!!

baby has measured very big off fundal height so didnt even have to fight, consultants has sctually written in my notes reason for sectoin "big baby, small mum" if anything happens naturally before the 5th june have agreed to trial labour but they will only leave me 6hrs.

so happy and relieved! xx
