cot mattresses

We are going to be reusing Olivers cot bed mattress as it was a very expensive one, and I know that its ok and clean. I am going to buy a protector for it. But I am just wondering if anyone else is doing the same?

We are also going straight into the cot with this anyone else doing this?

We are going to try moses basket in the day and cot at night from day one.

Dd1's mattress was fine and had a protector one. We thought about reusing it but given it can reduce the risk of sids we decided to spend the money on a new one. I couldn't live with myself if something happened and I didn't do all I could to prevent it.
