My son has quite thick yellow scaley cradle cap. We've been using dentinox shampoo, and I've been softening with oil. I also gently comb. With combing I've got a little off but his lovely thick dark hair is coming off with the flakes and he now has bald spots. Do you think he needs stronger shampoo, maybe on prescription?

My youngest had the worst cradle cap I had ever seen (although my hv assured me she'd seen worse) and he also lost loads of his hair, looking at photos of him before he had the cradle cap it's like looking at a different child. I found the only thing that worked was coconut oil which honestly got rid of his cradle cap in 3 days and then his hair started regrowing, could you try that?

Use coconut oil. All 3 of my kids have had horrible cradle cap, but coconut oil was the only thing that actually worked!!
Massage it into his hair for a minute or two. Before washing it out, use a baby comb or brush and brush his hair. It will come out quite easily! Then use a gentle shampoo to clean the remaining oil out of his hair and rinse thoroughly.

Baby oil and a soft toothbrush worked for us when nothing else would. :)

My son had it pretty bad too. I remember slathering baby oil on his scalp and just massaging with a baby hair brush. I got a lot off that way. Maybe the combo of brushing and using coconut oil.

Coconut oil and a fleacomb. Problem solved. Makes it obsolete.

I had it terribly as a child, which developed into psoroasis as I got older. My mum used to use tea tree oil and a soft bristle toothbrush. Coconut oil would do essentially the same thing, I would think (smells better IMO as well). I still use this method now (except with a soft hairbrush) and it works wonders :)

on my son I used baby oil and a nit comb! came straight off!!!!

my little boy had it thick and yellow, other people said it was bad but ive seen worse, i tried oil but his head went red, i used dentinox shampoo and it started to fade, if im honest, now i dont use anything and its almost gone..

Ty ladies. Tried coconut oil lastnight. Helped some. Plan to do it again tonight. How many daya did y'all do it til it was gone?

If you are breastfeeding then breastmilk works really well, ds had it on his eyebrows and looked awful, now it's completely gone!

Yay!!!! Its about 99% gone!!! Did the coconut oil for three days in a row. Used a fine comb to get it out! There is one little spot I missed. It looks wonderful! My baby's beautiful hair is back! She did loose a little hair but not too much! :)

I think my daughter has it. Thing is her hair is so thick and long. I can't see it unless working with her hair. Do you put oil on and wash straight off?

What I did was put coconut oil on her head..soak it in very well...let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then used a fine comb and got flakes out. Then rinsed with water and washed her hair twice! :)

Thanks must try that. Im kinda lucky as it can't be seen lol will get that tomorrow

Hello, know that this is an old thread. Where do you get coconut oil from?
