Anyone experience cramping after inserting EPO? I inserted my first pill last night and in the middle of the night I felt very uncomfortable. I had some cramping. Not really period type cramping but more like my cervix was irritated if that makes sense. It feels better now. Maybe feel a little sore with minor back pain. Is this normal with inserting EPO? Also, if you take them orally as well, have you noticed loose stools or cramping like you have to go poo bad but it almost feels like you are constipated?

I know EPO can cause contractions so you may be feeling that

And you shouldn't put epo vaginally until you are 37 weeks

My doula gave me the go ahead and there is a 51 page thread on here that says to start at 36 weeks. Most everyone on that thread has started at 36 weeks.

Could be but they don't come and go. Wouldn't they come and go if it was contractions? I really don't think they are though but I could be wrong.

I was also under the impression that you could start earlier with oral EPO but vaginally after 37... And also, doulas have lots of birth support experience but they are not medically trained, I would double check with your doc or midwife!

I have no idea but loose stool is normal if you take them orally.

Putting them in could have irritated the uterus or cervix if you were really pushing around in there and that can cause cramps. I am doing them orally and vaginally and have never had anything wrong with my bathroom habits.

When did you start vaginally?

When did you start vaginally?

I actually started at 35 weeks due to a horribly prolonged labor with my first DS due to not progressing and this LO measuring really big. It probably isn't advised but the EPO is not supposed to put you into labor it is just supposed to get your cervix ready by softening it and helping with effacement. I have heard that you can start at 36 weeks.

No problem. Its not like it is going to throw you into labor as soon as you insert them so I can't see why 36 weeks would be to early and even if it did 36 weeks is plenty far enough a long..

I have had the poo cramps, but felt constipated.. never thought anything of it though cause this late in the game, so much goes on that I don't know what to blame anymore :haha: I've been taking it orally since 37wks now

Inserting epo vaginally definitely gives me either cramping or a constant, lower abdominal pain. It did with my last pregnancy too and everything turned out fine.
It also makes me nauseous.

Definitely better today. I think it was because of taking it orally to be honest. I spent most of my day yesterday in the bathroom. Orally just totally messed up my stomach. Going to stick with vaginally only from now on. It was horrible yesterday!

I feel like the odd one out because I never noticed much either by inserting it or taking it orally lol. Just a big ol' mess the morning after inserting it vaginally.

I got my EPO tonight and will start using it tonight ... thanks for the info as I was about to ask

This may sound strange but what so you do with them? How many an what mg etx? X

I insert 1 - 1000mg of the soft gel EPO vaginally every night. I've also been poking a whole in them just before hand. I don't think that you have to do that though.
