I had a cervix check around 11:30 this morning.

Had some spotting for a little bit afterwards, but it stopped within a few hours. The worst of it was immediately afterwards (and it wasn't even that bad). But since then, I've been cramping, which I figure is normal.

The cramps are a little worse than what I'd feel during the first day of my period (the worst bit of cramping I'd get). They'll last about an hour, then go away for a little bit and then come back for about an hour or so, etc.

I really don't think being active or sitting has really impacted when they'd ease up.

I figure this is all normal, but I'm just curious about how long this is going to last (I'm about to be going on 12 hours - I was only expecting it to last a few hours!). It's just awful when I get the lightening crotch at the same time.

Maybe the exam has started something. I 'm not sure though, have you called your midwife about it?

I know with my son I had a routine exam and withing 12 hours I had gone from completely shut and high cervix to 3cm dialated and they didnt do anything other then check my cervix.

I've had several cervical checks due to preterm labor but I never bled or had any cramps.

I had one today too and I've been cramping ever since. I think its normal I'm just going to keep an eye and start timing if necessary

I'd be quite pleased if the cramping was actually doing something!

I've had some slight period-like cramps over the last couple of days, but they were much more mild and there were only few. I know my cervix was pretty high up there. Only 1cm dilated and 70% effaced. So I definitely wouldn't be complaining if it was helping things along.

I'm finally having a break from it (had one in around 10, so about an hour ago). I'm thinking it'll probably subside either by morning or by Thursday at the latest (unless there are other things going on). At least I'm hoping.

I just didn't expect it to go on for 12 hours when I only expected it to last 2-3 hours max.

Are your cramps lasting awhile or are they more stop and go?

I wouldn't even know how to time these things since it lasts so long :haha: So I feel like there's no way it'd be "early labor" or anything. It'd be nice if it were at least helping me progress.

The sad/funny thing is, I never understood when people said cervix checks were no fun. I just imagined them to be like a pap & didn't think they could be all that bad. Now I understand :haha:

they were lasting awhile, and between 8-9pm it was like one constant cramp. I took a shower and they eased up a lot, so i doubt its putting me in early labor either lol. But if they start coming and going I'm going to start timing :)

and i know what you mean, i didn't think they'd be so bad either! their so uncomfortable!!
