hIIII i AM CRAVING those sweets you get from the shop which you can get as a pic and mix etc the long strings that are covered in some stuff that are sour and also gummy sour sweets.

is there any healthy ones? as i doubt the ones that have been on the shop counter with little kids fingers in and out of it all day are healthy lol

I really like these even when not pregnant (the sour bit), but too much sugar makes me feel like crap so I very rarely eat them. I did have some last week and they were really tasty (though again, make me feel like crap afterwards). You aren't going to find anything that are 'healthy' (though there are some out there that are more natural but it's still a ton of sugar) but nothing is unhealthy if you don't eat it every day by the bucket load. I had one small packet over the course of a day or so last week and that was enough to satisfy the craving. Just buy some that are packaged (they're probably hanging up next to the bins) as they're probably fresher, and like you said, haven't been picked through.

How about green apples? Or is it the texture you want? I have been craving green apples like crazy so I don't know if it is the sweet/sour of the apples or the crispy texture.

I agree with the other poster, though. If you don't eat them all day, every day, then it is ok. I would also suggest to get the ones that are packaged so you can make sure no little fingers have touched them!

Tesco's do sour strawberry and cola lances pre-packaged - 3 for £1! Not healthy but I keep them in the cupboard for an occassional treat :)

The Natural Confectionary Company do sour gummy worms! Available in most supermarkets and they don't contain the artificial colours and flavourings!

Not sure if this would be enough but what about a lemon with sugar sprinkled on it? I went through a sour phase and was eating 2 lemons per night! It actually helped my bladder infection at the same time! Otherwise I can't think of any fully healthy alternatives haha

You could get Fruit Flakes or Winders from Tesco/Sainsbury/Asda etc, they are chewy and yummy but not as bad as sweeties as they are made with fruit ;) Though there's nothing wrong with indulging in a few if you're craving!

I've been munching on unsweetened dried mango slices... not as yummy, but seems to satisfy the craving. :)

Oh me too, and have been since like 9 weeks... particularly the gummy bear version. I haven't had a single one since it's got a ton of food coloring in it and I'm afraid I'd eat a whole package, but probably a few of those wouldn't really hurt and would make the craving go away... last night I was craving Whoppers (do they have those in the UK?)... bought a box and ate about 7 and the craving was gone. Then I could give the rest to DH. I bet if you ate just a few the craving would go away. :)

I have to say, the lemon idea does work pretty well for me. Like I said above, I'm not really a sweet/candy sort of person, but I do love sour and pickled things, pregnant or not. It's nothing like sour candy, but I can eat sour pickles (not the dill ones, but actual sour ones, hard to find in the UK) and kim chi (spicy pickled cabbage) by the jar. I also love lemons and I love eating lemon slices when I want something sour. It's not amazing for your tooth enamel (though neither is candy!), but every once in awhile, it's really tasty.

Ya it was really rough on the enamel but I ended up buying an enamel hardening toothpaste that helped lessen the blow :p

Mmmm I love those rainbow sour gummy worms. Wish I had some right now..

i think its the texture and taste and its like rough sugery sour stuff i wil try apples thank youuu :P

Ahh, same here! I have been craving sour keys and I haven't had those since I was about 8 years old. And the sour cherry candies...mm. But I have only had them twice. But sour, salty, and spicy things are my usual craving... pepperonici peppers, pickles, balsamic vinegar dressing, black olives, seafood sauce. I am still turned off of fruit because it makes me ill. =( Except for plain sour apple sauce with a little cinnamon.

I found some sour-ish semi-real fruit juice candies from Sunkist which have been helping too! They are tiny so they last a long time. My OH bought a giant box with 80 little packages for Halloween... I've had... a few haha.

describe what whoppers is like we may have a different name for it? and i had some and it made it made me feel loads better but then i felt abit sick abit later lol

Have a look for Fruit Wiggles in the baby snack aisle, they're usually with all the organix crips etc. They do green apple little threads made with pure fruit and are dusted in rice flour so have the grainy texture. I've not tried them myself but my LO likes them as a treat!

mmm, I love getting a craving satisfied even if it makes me a little sick :) Whoppers are those malted milk balls that are coated in chocolate... not at all like sour candies but just another thing I couldn't stop craving. Now the box is sitting here on the table and I don't even want a single one. Very strange how these cravings work!

Whoppers are similar to Maltesers. I love them both! Especially the Robin's Eggs are Easter time.

Yep, basically the same! I just wish there were sour patch kids in the UK. I love them and they're vegetarian. Most of the UK sour gummy candies aren't vegetarian, which is a bit sad. :nope:
