Crazy first cycles off BC!

Hi all,

I am excited to be joining an online forum as I embark on my journey of TTC! My cycles have been very crazy since going off of BC (Yaz) in January and I would love to hear about other's experiences and get some advice! I hope to be able to "pay it forward" down the road.

My first cycle off of BC was 41 days long. I wasn't charting as we were not yet TTC. Had some PMS symptoms on days 32-36 and then AF for 5 days.

This cycle has been a bit crazier as I began paying more attention to my body. Got one "peak" OPK reading on day 18 but temperatures didn't match and never noticed much change in my CM. Eventually got discouraged and stopped temping around day 25 when BBT didn't spike. Now it's day 45 and NO AF in sight.... had a few days of slight PMS symptoms and they've now subsided. Still some creamy CM but NO AF. I know that things can be a bit off after AF, but still feeling pretty anxious over here!

Anyone in a similar situation? Or have an recommendations? What a journey this is and I'm just beginning. Ah!

It can take you body several months to regulate after coming off BCP. I was turning OPKs positive left and right one month even though I wasn't ovulating. If you don't get your period after 60-90 days call you doc, you may need something to jump start your cycles. Once you get your period back start temping and charting again to confirm that you are ovulating.

I will definitely call my doctor if I make it to day 60. Just so frustrated after getting my period once on my own and now nothing! Wish I'd gone off the pill sooner.

Got my period this morning! Looking forward to a new cycle and hopeful that things will begin to normalize a bit. Fingers crossed.

I will definitely call my doctor if I make it to day 60. Just so frustrated after getting my period once on my own and now nothing! Wish I'd gone off the pill sooner.

You can't really have a false OPK. OPKs detect lh surges which happen 12-36 hours before ovulation. Sometimes you can have multiple surges in a cycle or if you have a hormone imbalance you can have an lh surge.

Glad you started your period! Let's hope for a normal cycle and strong ovulation!

I can relate, my first cycle after Skyla iud removal was 55 days, then I got a bfp! It turned out to be chemical though. Fingers crossed for a more normal cycle this round!

Alyssa- Ah yes, waiting and waiting for AF is horrible! Hope both our cycles continue to regulate!

I quit nuvaring years ago and it was HORRIBLE. I ended up bleeding for 3 months straight. Took 6 months for my cycles to start being normal again. I'm sure things won't go as crazy for you! I think my body is just very sensitive to hormone changes!

For future readers, I quit BCP after a long time (11 years), and just finished my first cycle. As a teen, my cycles were short, like 21-24 days. On my off-months without the pill (forgot to refill), they were around 35. This last cycle was our first cycle TTC, and it was 31 days. I cramped and spotted for a number of days, then nothing a couple days, then I got flow (and it was very light).

It was enough to make me never want to use hormonal birth control again LOL. I also went a little crazy emotionally/mood swing wise. Not a good time!

I hope your cycles even out soon!
