I currently breast feed, but have been told to top up with formula, but am really worried how I will comfort my baby if she cries as I currently just feed her.

She never cries for any other reason than hungry or wet. Will she cry for no reason?

Oh yeah she will! Even after I have checked for everything & fed him etc, my son does love to have a good cry over nothing.

Best thing to do is just hold them & try to sooth them. My son gets very overtired & overstimulated very quickly, so sometimes the only thing that will calm him down & send him to sleep is setting him down in his bassinet, hold his hand & just let him cry for a couple of minutes- never fails!

You will figure out what works for your LO :)

This was a big reason I continued to BF! To be able to soothe her to sleep, stop her crying etc.

She really doesn't cry that much, not like she used to when she was crying to be nursed. If she does cry and I know she's not hungry, wet, etc, I put her dummy in which soothes her, and just change her scene, put her from her swing to her mat, mat to her tummy etc, or just walk/rock her.

In our experience though, she doesn't cry like she used to. I am taking this to mean she was often unsatisfied with BFing and is now more satisfied with formula. She is older and out of the difficult first few weeks now though.
