Csection tomorrow and I'm so anxious. DD was born naturally so this is new to me. Im afraid of the surgery and just lying on the table knowing I'm being cut open! Recovery is also scaring me, any reassurance/tips/ways to calm myself??

Please don't be too nervous but also know that a little bit of nerves is normal with any surgery!

I had a brilliant section experience. Healed well and was back to myself in no time!
My top tip would be get moving asap.
Though I won't lie it is awkward and sore at first to get up and moving it really is in your best interests in the long run.

Remember you've had major abdominal surgery so don't be too hard on yourself and listen to your Dr.
Best of luck! You'll do great.

Even though I had an emergency section I'd do it all over again. It was amazing. Everyone's so calm and it's not a panicked atmosphere.

Get up and about after it once you can and just stay at home for a few weeks with your baby. If you try to walk too far or lift too much you'll get a shock how much a c section affects your ability to do things you did before it! I was back to normal around 4 weeks after but had to take iron due to anaemia so took me around 8 weeks before I was fully back to normal.

It will all be fine! Good luck!

Hope you come back and post an update for us bumblebee. Hope it all went well for you xx.

Well, it's now been a week since my section!

The actual procedure was very calm and relaxed, our baby girl was born 5 minutes after they started. I did feel quite sick and faint but they gave me medication which helped ease it. Afterwards I was very shaky but that didn't last too long. At my hospital you get your own room so an hour after Isabella was born I was back in my own room feeding her. It was such a better experience than my first birth which ended in me haemorrhaging and being rushed to theatre and missing the first few hours of my daughters life. I did lose a little more blood than normal, but it wasn't enough to mean I needed blood or anything so that was a relief. I am on iron tablets though for a few weeks but that's nothing compared to last time needing 4 pints of blood!
I'm 8 days pp and feeling a little better everyday. I was in hospital for 3 nights and the midwives were fantastic with me. My pain relief was always on time which really helped. I'm obviously not back to normal, and my wound hurts a lot on one side (this is common apparently, the side the surgeon works on is usually a bit more stingy) but I'm getting there. I really worried about how I'd cope with my toddler but she's been fantastic. DH has 2 weeks off work too which is a massive help.
So, for me a csection was the right choice. I worried my recovery would be worse than with my natural birth but so far that doesn't seem to be the case. It's certainly no walk in the park, and it'll be a few weeks before I'm back to normal, but I feel much better than the first time around. After I had dd1 I said never again would I have more children, this time around I've said I'd do it all again so I think that says it all! :)

Bumblebee you brought tears to my eyes! I will be having a c section as my first childbirth was just horrific. 11lb 4 / 5.1kg baby, 4th degree tearing from cervix to bum, 3.2 litres PPH and 4 bags of blood. I also missed the first few hours of my daughter's life as I was rushed to surgery, but to hear you say you were in your room with bub just an hour after giving birth, really made my heart soar! Thank you for your story, it's really made me happy! :flower:

congratulations! So glad that your experience as positive. My section was very positive too and may have an elective for this Baby.

I loved reading this after finding out today I need a section x
