Hi ladies. I just have another question out of curiosity,

Bottlefed babies need to have the nipples on the bottles changed - they move up stages, ie: from slow to medium to fast over time, how does this work with breastfeeding? Obviously you're not going to switch your nipple lol, but does it start to come out faster or stay the same??

 we have extra nipples we keep in storage! This is a good question, I was just thinking about this today...well almost the same thing. But I think it stays about the same? Their suck just gets stronger over time? I don't know..

Obviously the nipple of a woman and the nipple of a bottle are different

But if Elyse sucks too hard or when we needed to move up she was collapsing the nipple..

Babies get more efficient as they get older so they are able to get more quicker...their latch gets better which helps with that too. Hayden went from eating 1hr long at birth down to about 40min for a couple months and then slowly dropped to where it only took 3-5min total for him to have a full feeding.

Yeah - they just get better at it. They work out how to increase the flow with theor technique :)

TBH I'm not sure it's a way of getting you to spend more with the bottle companies after your initial lay out. I've never changed the teats on bottles I use.

I have to agree, even now Savannahs still on the newborn nipples, lol

Yeah....or get variflow teats. That's what breastfeeding is like the harder they suck the more they get....when they stop sucking the milk stops coming out (well....usually:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:)

When Robyn was about 1 month old it would comeout so fast on one side that she would almost choke! but now she deals with it better and i dont think that the flow has changed.

I changed Caines bottle teet to medium flow the other week and he was gagging and it was going all over. He is not ready for it yet xx

i have this, and if he lets go in mid flow it squirts him in the face he also lets it dribble down his chin and down me mid feed. think he's learnt to control the flow better as he doesnt choke as often.

 at swapping our nipples, it'd be nice every now and then! :D

I've often wondered this because Aisling still takes ages to feed, I'd love to move her up to the next nipple stage! :dohh:
