Anybody had any experience with this?? Am now 22weeks but had a nuchal scan and measurement of 4mm. Had CVS at 13weeks and an echocardiogram at 19weeks both were perfect with negative results however the radiologist did comment that bubz still had a thickened neck but not with fluid in it like it did at the 12week nuchal scan. When I queried what that may mean she said it could be a chromosomal thing or just stretched skin from when the fluid was in there. I didnt think much of it at the time as she didnt seem too concerned and did not comment about it on the report she gave me just that all appeared normal. I just had an antenatal appointment and my midwife gave me her copy of the report. I just put it in my book assuming it was the same as the one I had got. After reading it at home it says at the top echocardiogram indication: fetal anomaly: cystic hygroma. When I googled this condition I got totally freaked!! Do you think this is what my baby has or what he had??? Wahhhh

ETA* Little update...Ob reakons its just a typo as he hasnt been told that either. Will have to wait for him to get hold of radiographer to confirm and then will see him on Thursday :P

I am sorry but I dont have any advice on this but wanted to say that if there was something that was a concern then surely this would have been looked in to and a consultant notified?

I read my notes and see things on there which wasnt mentioned to me and nothing has come about from it.

Can you call your hospital/midwife just to have your mind put at rest?

x

Hi Ann,

I am new to this forum and I am no expert but given how far along you are, I am hoping that is a good sign.

I lost a son at 16 weeks due to a cystic hygroma but it was discovered at 12 weeks and everything the Dr's told me was about how rare it was for a child with one to make it past the first trimester.

I don't want to give you false hope but I truly hope that the fact that you have made it this far is a good sign. I read that many of the hygromas resolve themselves later in the pregnancy.

I am wishing you a healthy, full term pregnancy!
