Hi, I am really sorry if someone has already done this though I wanted to start a thread that members can add to with dairy free foods they have found to help others, Please add to this if you can and hope it helps xx Please check the ingredients yourself before you buy, I have checked them several times though we all make mistakes:winkwink:

Butter, - Vitalite, made with sunflower oil, Tastes great now I prefur it.

Milk- Rice Dream, Rice Milk, really nice with cereal and makes a nice strong cuppa!
* also Kara Coconut Milk, though I dont like this as much on cereal as it has a stronger taste.

Biscuits- Oaties (tesco's own)
Tesco Value Bourbons, I couldnt quite believe this myself though was pleased to find them.
Tesco Rich Tea Biscuits.
Foxes Coconut Crunch Biscuits.

Crisps- Salted Tesco crisps (can you tell where I shop lol)
Saw some bacon crisps in there today to, you know the stripy ones, they didnt have milk in either, though havent tried them yet.

Frozen Chicken- Birds eye Crispy chicken, Birds Eye Chicken Fingers.

Fish- Youngs do some without milk added, check allergy advice.

Bread - Warbutons toastie and normal thin cut, all contain soya sadly 0_0.

thats all for now though will add more as I remember :)

thanks for starting the list dextermommie! i'll be taking notes

no worries hun I just hope it helps and remember to check though im paranoid and check things each week lol. (even though ive had them for weeks!)

Here is a list every dairy free mum should print out! https://www.godairyfree.org/Food-to-Eat/Food-Label-Info/Dairy-Ingredient-List.html I have a copy of it on my fridge its really helpful.

AVOID** Bisto chicken gravy contains milk, I never realised. THe red tub is ok.
AVOID** A lot of flavoured crisps, salted often ok.

Always read the allergen advice notes and check yourself too, (my poor partner shopping takes forever!!).

Birds eye Chicken Pies
Tesco value rich tea biscuits
Marshmallows!
Sainsburys seeded lemon sole (fresh)
Pure spread
Chocolate oat milk
Hotel chocolat dark chocolate (a real treat and does contain soya but to die for)
Hmm...mind has gone blank! I'll post back when I think of more ideas.

It's also worth mentioning that most recipes can be adapted by using Pure Spread or Vitalite with either Kara milk (funnily enough I don't think it is strong tasting at all!), Rice milk or Oat milk.

Yeah I think Kara is the least strong tasting of all the dairy substitute milks.

*Almost all waitrose own brand bread (in loaf form) is dairy and soya free, even their soft white bread, which is unusual to be soya free. Just check labels but their labels are very clear.

*Buckingham bakery kosher breads (found in waitrose and some Tescos) are completely dairy and soya free.

*All kosher meat products are dairy free and very, very few contain soya.

*Waitrose do not tend to use soya oil as vegetable oil in products, and all their vegetable oil is specified as to its origin (most supermarkets do just write 'vegetable oil'). Also their vegetable cooking oil is 100% rapeseed oil; some other brands are almost all soya or all soya.

*Sainburys basics fish fingers are dairy and soya free

*The tesco 'free from' chocolate brownies are dairy and soya free

*The 'pure' brand sunflower oil spread is dairy and soya free; tastes nicer than vitalite and is more widely available, they also started doing an olive oil version recently, also soya and dairy free but bizarrely the sunflower one tastes more like your typical olive oil spread than the olive one-which has a weird aftertaste so I'd avoid!

*Nishaan minced ginger and minced garlic in a jar is in some other type of vegetable oil than soya and has no added milk-you would not believe how many supposedly just pureed spices and spice blends have soya or milk added to them!

Crisps-all the 'plain' flavours of kettle chips are dairy and soya free, just double check the pack

@summer rain - i am a regular user of spices and assumed using minced garlic and ginger paste was safe. From reading the ingredients list I was surprised to find it contained soyabean oil, does this contain dairy of any kind?

no but many babies who have an allergy or intolerance to dairy will have one to soya, although soyabean oil is less allergenic than other soya products, it can still contain traces of soya protein. I myself have a soya intolerance and was mystified for ages as to why I was coming out in hives after having samosas and so on fried in cheap vegetable oil (not by me but at the in-laws etc) I then found out the oil these people were using was soyabean oil and all was explained xx

ETA: just double checked the Nishaan stuff and the base is rapeseed oil. Bear in mind most Indian pickles are also soyabean oil based, too :(

Hi everyone, quick question: yesterday when I was in tescos i got some arla lacto-free cheese spread but when I got home I started wondering if its actually ok to eat. On the pack it says It's fine for people with lactose intolerance but it comes from cows milk so I'm a bit unsure! Can anyone confirm if its ok?

I thought it would be really nice on some oat cakes :)

The lacto-free is not ok for babies with a milk protein intolerance, which is what most babies have and not a lactose intolerance, lacto-free is just dairy with the lactose taken out, so even on their website and ads it has a little small print saying 'not suitable for those with milk protein allergy'. xx

I did the exact same thing. Got that spread. Though it's not good for cows milk protein intolerant babies. I got confused too so yor not alone there x

Yes its an easy mistake to make so don't worry :D Here is a really good list of foods and ingredients to avoid (skip to page 5)
