what were your LOs syptoms? Did he/she grow out of it?

Dairy seemd to give my LO bad wind / colic so I stopped eating dairy. Then yesterday I tried some cereal with milk and he's not pooped since and seemed in pain last night (but he also had his jabs 2 days ago, could that be it??) But everywhere I read it seems to suggest that dairy allergy / intolerance would give him the runs and not constipation, so I'm wondering if i've got it wrong?

I'm going to wait till his routine works back to normal and then try milk again. If the same thing happens again I'll know for sure it's the milk. I was so hoping it wouldnt affect him now he's outgrown most of his colicy troubles.

My brothers little girl is 6 and still cant eat any dairy.

Thanks for letting me know your experiences..

I cut dairy out and it seemed that Bren spit up a lot less.

i was interested in this too as charlie is still colicky and has reflux and was thinking maybe what im eating is effecting him

Hiya, They have put jacob on lactose free milk because they think he is. He had explosive diaherra *sp* that could spray up onto my chest when he was laying down. He had this from about day 4 until this week. His belly was really swollen and he had the worst wind(out of bottom) and would have his bottle and about 1hr-1.30hr later he would just start screaming and wriggling until his next feed. He also suffers from reflux (and still does even on the milk but it has eased a lil but he only been on the milk for about 3days today) Since having the milk he still needs burping but doesnt scream after his bottle his stomach is so so much less swollen(still a lil but it was only 3days ago) and for the 1st time since born his poo's are soild.

Had a review at the doc's today and there happy with him so far on this if it didnt work they were going to check it wasnt a milk allergy but so far they are happy with his improvement. And are hoping to keep him on the milk for a year then review him.

Only prob with lactose intolerant is actually finding a doc that will listen to u. Like you coz they told me it was just colic for the past 4 weeks(which 50% of colicly babies are actually lactose intolerant but grow out of it) I went in twice a week with him screaming in pain and with explosive poo's and they sent me away until finally on monday i booked in with a new doc and went in and refused to leave until he was examined properly. I dont care about me not getting sleep etc but seeing my lil baba in so so much pain was distressing. And finally this doc listened. But he said not alot of doc's will as its not something they like to label babies as lightly.

So far he is doing much better. He still has colicly moments(1hr here and there) but isnt crying no-stop from morning till night. His relux is much better every other bottle being sick on (this is with baby gaviscon aswell) but before it was every bottle projectile so im happy with this. and doc said today hopefully in the weeks to come once his gut starts working better because of the milk this should ease more too. :)

OK all the info i can give for now as its only been 3days since new milk :) But if you suspect your baba is go the doc and dont take no for an answer :) XXX

thanks. that's interesting. Teddy used to have explosive poos too...but I assumed it was normal. This was when he had "colic" before I gave up dairy...hmmmm interesting. Both I and OH had a good spraying....
I was so hoping it wasnt this but I'm begining to fear it is. Except that nopw he's constipated....gosh it's all so confusing!..
thanks for your reply.

did you ever try eating it again?

No. I miss cheese. Once he is over the reflux, I will start working it back into my diet.

this is what I did - tried just 2 weetabix and milk - and now he's super duper constipated...off to the pharmacy today. poor mite. He's so uncomfy and is wanting to feed every 2 horus for comfort (I assume) - I dont know where he's storing it all! He'll burst.

Jacob gets constipated with the gaviscon he has for acid reflux. Doc told me to give him an oz of cold boiled water a day and it does the trip (not to easy if your baby breast feed as i dont know how you would do it) but it helps jacob :) XXX
