Hi, It stands to reason that when we are told by our dr's that our luteal phase is always the same length ie: 14 days, it also means that the Follicular Phase (first part of our cycle before we ovulate) may differ greatly. My cycles range from 35 days to 56 days, which means I do not ovulate on the same day each cycle. We have been TTC for 8 months and due to not being able to pinpoint Ovulation decided to go to the Dr to see whats going on.
I had the first blood test done randomly on day 39 and it showed the LH and FSH ratio to be wrong so Doc queried PCOS (I have no other symptons of this) 3 days after these bloods were done my temp went up and stayed up, so when bloods were repeated randomly the next week I was sure I had ovulated so we did Progesterone too, and it just happened to be 8dpo (CD49). Well my Progesterone has come back at 49 which to me clearly shows I did ovulate when I thought I had. And then yesterday AF arrived 16dpo.
I am currently waiting to see my GP again to see where we go from here.
But as you can see all our bodies are totally different, it just happened randomly that my blood tests were done when they were. Had my dr insisted on testing on day 21 there is No Way I would have ovulated. And just to add my previous 2 cycles I ovulated on CD20/CD28.
I am now on CD2 of my new cycle, it will be interesting to see what happens this cycle!!
My advice to you is always to do the blood work 7 dpo not cycle day 21.
Good luck to you all and lots of
