We have been weaning from end of Dec. I introduced 3 meals a day last week which she has no problem eating!!

her routine is as follows
-730, 8oz bottle and baby cereal
1130 7oz bottle
1200 2 cubes of fruit/veg or yoghurt
330 7oz bottle
630 2 cubes fruit/veg or yoghurt
730 8oz bottle

altogether she is getting 30oz milk a day. The last few days she has been messing with her bottles and im struggling to get her bedtime bottle in to her . Tonight she refused it completely and i would rather she kept taking that one. Would she be ready to drop bottle or maybe i need to change teats? Shes on no 2 tommee tippee teats they work fine though block the odd time as her milk is quite thick, shes on sma staydkwn.

I checked her formula and it said at 7mths she should be on 3x7oz bottles a day,she will b 7mths at weekend. I was thinking of dropping the 1130 bottle and giving her the afternoon bottle a little earlier.

do i cut that bottle or completely or gradually reduce it?? She would then be taking 23oz in one day although some times she leaves an oz of morning and bed bottle. Is this enough or too much? Ive googled it and keep getting different answers so im a bit confused, some say she should be on 3 feeds others say 4/5feeds:shrug:

My little one is 7months and has a very similar feeding/eating pattern to yours-- 3 meals a day although eats a bit more at mealtimes than what you describe. I offer 4x 8oz bottles a day, and on average he'll take 25-28oz. He started to cut back in the evening bottle like yours and that's the one bottle I wanted him to keep, so I stopped encouraging the mid morning bottle so much. I still offer the 8oz and if he wants it he has it, but if he stops mid way (falls asleep) I don't waken him to take the rest anymore. I found that this meant he was taking the full 8oz in the afternoon and evening and first thing in the morning which is what I wanted. The days he takes the full 8oz mid morning feed he still takes the other 3 feeds.. Presume these are hungrier days. Don't worry too much about what it says on the packet, or what others say, as all babies have different appetites. As long as baby is taking 20oz + then that's fine. Taking more than that I see as a bonus rather than a problem. Do u offer a little water with meals? If baby is cutting back on milk be sure to offer water at mealtimes for fluid intake. Xxx

Oh and yeh I think u should try a different teat. We are in stage 3 teats (dr browns though) he is on comfort milk so it's a bit thicker too. Xxx

I would just keep doing what you're doing and see what happens. You might try reducing the amount of solid food you offer just before bed. Milk really is the most important thing and it will decrease overtime, but she likely won't start off my completely refusing a bottle. That sounds to me like something else, teething, a cold coming on, tummy upset from something she ate, etc. Usually before they drop a bottle, the overall amounts will start to decrease. We didn't see any change at all until about 8 months and then the amounts she would take would decrease a bit. Eventually, she just didn't act hungry at all between breakfast and lunch and we just didn't do that bottle. And then the next day was the same, etc. Usually the bedtime one isn't the first to go, so I would probably assume it had to do with something else or just eating solids a bit too close to bed. Just see what happens over the next couple weeks. If she continues to refuse that one, I'd cut down on what you give her at dinner or offer dinner much earlier and see if it makes a difference. There's no rush with weaning and you really want her to keep up the amount of milk she's having for now. Ignore the amounts it says on the package. That's just an estimate and no babies really follow it.

i hope shes not getting sick, although i think another tooth may pop through soon. She was in bed alot later last night as we where at my mums for dinner i thought she may have been too tired but when i put her down she lay and chatted for ages:dohh:

I thought she would of been starving this morning but she only drank 5oz,i managed to get another oz into her by mashing up 1/2rusk (bad mummy:blush:) for her breakfast as her cereal gets made with water. The last week or so shes been leaving an oz or so from different bottles.

i was looking to do 630 tea as she starts nursery soon and i wanted to feed her but looks like nursery might have to give tea after all:cry:

she has her 6-9mth assessment next week so ill mention it to hv if she keeps doing it.
