hi girls, Im going crazy here. DD is taking an hour to drink 4ounces.. I have her on Nuk first choice level 1 medium flow teat. She seems to be sucking alright, not swallowing. Should I change to level 1 fast flow? Read on google about dangers of choking if flow is too fast.. or what about changing to a silicone teat? are they easier?

I had her on Doc Brown.. nitemare. Slow again and spilled 50% of the feed :-(

We had the same problem, just up the teat, that should solve the problems.

It'll take her a few days to get used to the new teat though, so she'll dribble a lot at first. So persevere for a few days and then she should work it out.

my lo is the same and i upped the teat and she dribbled loads so went back to the old one..... how long would you recommend persevering with it for? xx

itll take a little while until they get used to not having to work so hard to get so little out! Right now LO is not used to the larger flow and is over sucking and letting the excess flow out of mouth - takes time... but my LO takes a 6oz bottle in 5-15 minutes on medium flow it is nice!
edit maybe keep a burp cloth under chin for a while :)

I'd give her a full week to adjust. It took a good few days with my DD, but it made all the difference.

I think I had a similar problem, I was using Avent Natural teats and my baby was sucking like mad and dribbling most of it. He was also suffering with trapped wind a lot so I changed to Dr Brown's bottles using level 1 teat which I then changed to level 2 because he was still sucking like mad. His trapped wind has improved but the other thing I've noticed is that he only dribbles the milk out when he has wind. Once I burp him he goes back to sucking calmly and not dribbling. My baby is 6weeks old so I was worried about giving him a level 2 teat but I'm sticking with what works! I have our 6 week check tomorrow so I'll update if I find anything new.

my DD is the same and it's not the teat xyz it's the fact she has reflux and drinking hurts her.

We tried a faster flow nipple on Christian and he freaked out and it sounded like he was drowning. But it takes him an hour to take an ounce. Anything after an ounce or so and he screams at it, freaks out, chokes on it and spits it out. Any advice??
