Decorating the reception venue yourself?

Hello, I'm trying to look for ways for us to have a gorgeous wedding for under £6,000. One thing I'm thinking of is hiring say a village hall and decorating it ourselves. I found this site as an example: https://www.visualbliss.co.uk/themes/SilkDrapes.htm

That page takes you to silk drapes which you can hire. Obviously the cost would depend on how big the venue is, but it seems a cool (however hard) idea!

Is anyone else decorating?

Ive thought about it, but the venue that i love is already ready for a wedding reception .. but i do like the idea of decorating it myself if i were to change my mind and pick somewere i felt needed doing up abit ..
the only thing that would bother me is the extra stress lol i just wonna relax the few days before the wedding lol
how many days would you do it before the big day?

hehehe it'd depend on where it was really. I don't think we will now, we've found a decent priced venue

our function room is being decorated by my mum and sisters on the morning of the wedding while I'm at the hairdressers woo.

Myself, my mum and 2 of my bridesmaids will be decorating my venue, not to the extent of drapes etc (because our venue is already a gorgeous ballroom) but setting tables out, table cloths on, and centre pieces in place.

I'm actually looking forward to doing it because I know then it will be right!!

I'm such a perfectionist!

My mum, SIL, MOH, my big brother and me will be decorating my venue the night before. We're hiring Chair covers but have decided to do them myself to save £200! We're doing the table decoration ourselves - unless the room is booked out the night before, in which case the hotel will do the lot for us the morning of the wedding. I would rather do it myself to know it was all the way I wanted it but I plan on showing the hotel how I want it to be nearer the time should we not be able to do it.

We will be because we are having the wedding at home! I'm loving choosing all the different bits and pieces. We are having the ceremony in a barn and then the reception in the marquee (hopefully!) The barn doesnt have doors yet and has rather a lot of stabling still inside!
