Deed poll and credit reports

Df needs a new car on finance by May (his current car isn't likely to pass mot) and he was told that his credit score is 3/5 and that they would give him finance in his old name. However because he's changed his last name they view it as two different people and his new name has no score. He needs to link the two names together so he's seen as the same person, but he doesn't know how to do it

Has he changed his bank cards, registered to vote and bills in his name. I don't think my credit changed after changing surname when married

All his bills are in his name, and bank card. He's going to ring the bank later as online it says he bank should do it for you so your credit follows you but when he rang they said he had to do it in e first place

Shouldn't be an issue tbh, I have been Maisie's, divorced, married and changed my name by deed poll just a fe weeks ago and I am still the same person, it just shows your previous names
