I've got dental surgery on Monday, it invasive and will require plenty of local and possibly a sedative. I can't put it off any longer as I risk losing other teeth. Am I ok to feed Vincent in the hours afterwards or should I express a feed and then pump and dump? He's 7 months and eating 3 meals a day along with 4-5 proper breastfeeds. :flower:

i recently had some treatment - root canal - injection etc

i was told not to feed for 3 hrs afterwards

ask they should tell you ......

I've got a filling with local next week and they said to feed him normally.

When my baby was 8 wks old I had an emergency root canal, and also oral surgery to have wisdom tooth removed, oh then a crown ( all for the same tooth infection!) they said it has changed, they used to say dump for 6 hrs but that was being cautious. They said you could nurse normally. My baby doesn't take a bottle, so I just kept nursing as usual and all was fine, but I think if my baby took bottles, I would pump and dump for a feeding or two. Anyhow, my baby is fine. Hope all goes well :)
