Depo Injection

Hi All.

I had DD2 on 5 December 2015. I bled for about 3 weeks after the birth. Nothing out the ordinary.

I went for my post natal check up on 4 February and opted for the Depo Injection.

I got my first period since having DD2 on 25 February. .. The problem is I am still bleeding 10 days later.. doesnt seem to be letting up! My periods usually lasted 6 days max!!.

Is this a result of the shot or as its my first real period since DD2?? . Im getting really fed up of it all now!!.

It's probably the shot. It will likely be like that for months until your body adjusts. And then coming off the shot it can take up to 18 months for regular cycles to come

I am seriously considering not getting the second shot next month and go with an alternative.

I am still bleeding now 13 days later although it is less.

Considering going the doctors but not sure what/if anything they can do!.

I've never had any bleeding with the depo at all so maybe it's not the injection.

Thanks the Dr did say it could
stop periods altogether. Ive just had my second period which was normal thankfully. Maybe a combination of both

I was on depo for the bets part of 5 years and I bled for 3 months constantly at the beginning - then didn't have a period at all after that.
My last shot was due on 29 Feb but I decided not to have it as we are NTNP, the Dr has said it could be anywhere between 12-18 months before I have a period. xx

Ive been the GP this morning who has advised not to get the second shot due to the amount of bleeding and other issues.

It could be a result from the shot because I know that after I gave birth I went on the shot and bled for 3+ months and 2 years before ttc i remember being on my period for a whole year after getting one shot. The shot really messed up my cycles, but that's just from my personal experience. Now I'm on the patch and have no complaints whatsoever. Good luck.

Yes the patch is wonderful I love it. I started with the pill to help regulate my periods which helped but remembering to take the pill everyday was a fail so I decided to choose a contraceptive with similar traits as the pill and I found the patch which I absolutely love. But good luck hun
