Desperate for a Progesterone Explaination!

Hi Ladies,

Today for me is CD24 and what I thought was 5DPO. I went to the lab to do my progesterone blood test yesterday and apparently it came back negative for ovulation. The nurse did not give me an actual number on the phone, just said to repeat the test in a week. Is it possible that I did O on Sunday like I thought and it's just too early? Or did I for sure not O yet? We just tried so hard around that time, we were both kind worn out and haven't been BDing much this week Please give any info you can about the test, I've never done one before and I'm freaking out a bit. Thanks!!

Hmm it's hard to tell...could not have ovulated yet...or aren't at all...I would just wait till next week's test...I know it's very frustrating be worn out thinking you hit your window and too tired by the time your window comes up. .I understand all to well..at least if next week test will give you a plan..if you ovulated great if not could try clomid or something to help ya out! Good luck! Keep us updated what your level is! Ask the number next time it's your right to know

Hi sweet pea,

One of the ways a doc can tell if o occurred is by testing for progesterone. After ovulation occurs, our progesterone surges up. What number were you? I believe, anything over 10 is ok.... 10 is still weak though. I've had 100, but that's when I had two eggs.

I know this bc I need medication to induce o. Another way for them to test, is via ultra sound... It's much more precise, as they can measure the follicles ect.

Hi Ladies!

Thanks so much for the thoughts! I am on clomid (first round) but my temps have been pretty funny. I thought I o'd on Sunday, got a dip then two days of rises then it dipped back down. Do you think I didn't O? Or is it more likely that I have low progesterone for some reason? I started taking OPKs again and so far, nothing positive since last Saturday. Basically I'm just wondering how fast your progesterone levels go up after O. Would they be high enough 4DPO? I should have waited until Monday to take the test but I guess I will wait until next Thursday! Until then, temps are starting to go up again so we'll see!
