DH has a Varicocele - any advice/success stories etc?

We have been TTC # 2 for over 2 years without even a hint of a BFP. 1 year ago DH had his first SA and we found out he had a count of 4 million; 44% motility & 0% morphology. 6 months later he went for a 2nd SA and his count was the same but motility was down to 19% and morp. up to 2%. After a very overdue appt with an urologist we have recently found out that he has a Grade II Varicocele. The urologist has suggested a ultra sound to check it further, followed most likely by surgery to fix it.

I was just wondering if anyone had been through the same thing and had any advice or success stories? I would love to hear anything as we have been trying for what feels like so long and I would love to think this could be the answer to our infertility problems and that it can be fixed and result in a BFP in time.

My DH has a Varicocele and I got a BFP in Feb but that Ended unfortunately

My DH has to go on antibiotics and Motrin when he has pain cuz w the Varicocele its tight and can get backed up right there and cause infection !!!
I would ask the Dr to give him a dose of antibiotics and see of it helps it usually help my DH also keep them Boys Cool a Vari can heat up his bits really bad and can cause the sperm to Die!!!
So boxers and No hot showers or Anything else that can heat them like bike riding Etc!!

Also we got our BFP after taking Supps like fertility blend for men!! GL

Thanks for responding Sis. So sorry to hear about your loss in Feb

DH didn't have a clue he had it so hasn't caused him any pain thankfully but that's good to know about the antibiotics. The dr. didn't mention anything about that. Is your DH going to have surgery to correct it or are you just leaving it since you were able to get pregnant despite having it?

Hiya hun,

although my husband hasn't officially been diagnosed with a varicocele I have a sneaky suspicion that he does have one.

He noticed a "mass" in one of his testicles a few months ago and went to see our general GP who told him it didn't feel suspicious (cancerous) so not to worry. Fast forward a few months and his SA came back as 14mil count, 26 morphology and 5% motility, we're waiting to get an appointment through the post to go to to the infertility specialist but I have a feeling that they're going to say he has a varicocele. I'll keep you updated x

So glad to see that there are others going through this and yes I would love to hear any success stories!!!!

My DH has a grade 3 varicocele with very similar stats to yours WhiteOrchid and we are waiting to get into a Urologist to see what our next options are, although his doctor said in our case it would probably be surgery then possibly some sort of assisted fertility

I have heard good things about Fertilaid for Men and may just go ahead and order it in the meantime. At this point, we are wiling to try anything
