My dh got his SA results yesterday and they r on the low side but do u girls think its enough 2 get me pregnant naturally??

SA results are:-

Volume - 6.5ml
Sperm Count - 15 million/ml
Motility - 39%
Total Motile Sperm per sample - 37.7 million

Hi Auntiebee!

My DH got his SA results on Monday and the motility was 40% ~ I've done some nosing around on the threads and found lots of gals that said their partner's counts were improved with healthy lifestyle changes and vitamins. That is what we are trying and re-testing in a couple of months. I think numbers in this range means it will take us a little longer than some but it certainly isn't impossible. Good luck!

Hey Auntibee!

I dunno hun. My DH's only problem was motility-at 49% and we still haven't gotten a bfp. That said there could be something unknown wrong with me? He had his SA in Nov. and has since quit smoking, eating healthier and taking both Fertilaid for men and Himalaya spemen (google them both). We haven't retested yet.

You know the saying-it only takes one!

my Dh's SA was lower then yours ,we were told we would not concieve on our own without IUI or IVF to help . but we did concieve on our own once. sadly it dident stick.

here was my DHs' SA

size of sample 1ml
total count 16 million ( low)
morphology 30% (normal)
motility 8% (way too slow)

we only had the one SA done so I dont know if it has increased or not.
also you must take into concideration that Lab error does happen.
the length of time they let the sample sit can make the sperm start to die off. also even the cold temp of the lab can slow them down which is why I have concidered buying my own microscope to do a SA at home. call me nuts but it would save us 130.00 off each SA .

**Momof-I'm so sorry to hear about your mc. Do you mind if I ask how long it took for you to conceive?
My DH was also concerned about the lab b/c when we dropped off the sample they put it on a bin on the front desk.....he was really hoping someone would "whisk" it off somewhere. He says there is no telling how long it sat up there before someone got it back to the lab, let alone doing the labwork.

Hi Titi and Momof ~ I agree, I definitely think ALOT depends on how the lab treats the sample. We have the option of giving the sample at home and then driving it to the lab, but if the lab doesn't take prompt action then the time between giving the sample and the analysis could be quite long!

From what I've read, analyzing more than one sample definitely seems like a good idea. How are your partners dealing with that emotionally and mentally? My DH was really bummed about his results and says he will only do one more SA and that is it. So I'm definitely hoping the lifestyle changes and vitamins will give us a better result!

Hi Jamie-That is a REALLY cute avatar! Is that a Frenchie?

DH says "It is what it is"...He is doing everything he can to help it along-but says besides that you can't get upset about it. I know-its easy for him to say. He wants it badly but has been very laid back about it. Although def. he suspects the lab may have screwed up a bit. It's harder for me-when he forgets to take a supplement I get bent out shape.

Aw Titi! I totally hear ya - my DH is much more laid back about the whole ttc thing. It is hard when you want it so badly and your partner is more laid back about it, isn't it? I'm trying to learn to obsess less ; P

Your frenchie it TOO CUTE! Ours is a boston bull terrier (an older part of the boston terrier line). I've often thought he needs a little frenchie buddy though - they would look swell together!

Do you mind if I ask how old you are Titi? I am 34 and I think my age combined with DH's low motility just means it will take us longer than most couples. FX'd for ya though - your DH's numbers are really good and pretty darned close to 'normal'.

Oh goody I think I have a new LTTTC Buddy : )
I'm 34 too! DH is 36. I too am hoping it just will take us longer.

Your pup is so cute! How much does he weigh? Thanks for compliment for Marlow (our Frenchie-)-she's my baby for now!

LOVE IT!! BnB has been so comforting through this crazy ttc journey, but it is even better when you meet gals in the same boat (age and other factors-wise) - especially when they have ridiculously cute fur babies! I'd be honored to be your LTTTC buddy - even though I'm bummed to have crossed the LT threshold. So so sorry you've been at it for 17 months - that sounds rough! You've done your time and deserve a BFP gal.

My DH is the same age as yours. Bullet, our boston, is a whopping 25 pounds. That is huge for a boston! We got him about 3 years ago from the humane society.

Wow-he is HUGE! Marlow is about 18lbs. I have lots more questions about pup etc....but don't want to take up all AuntieBee's thread! (sorry hun!)..... Are you on FB? I am https://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1165986310&ref=profile and have LOTS of pics of Marlow.....I like to keep in touch with B&B girls on it as well b/c I spend more time there as it isn't TTC related which helps. Otherwise we can PM.

I think LTTTC really depends on your mindset. I just consider myself LTTTC b/c at 17 cycles-it is too LONG for me! But at our age, I don't necessary think 12 cycles is too bad.

You know, when we first started TTC I had read right away that it could take a couple our age a year. So-technically I was prepared for it, but mentally I really thought we would get pg straight away. Sigh.

Oh wow - I'm so glad you were somewhat mentally prepared with that information about it taking a year. I just assumed it would happen right away! That is a great idea about keeping touch on facebook - I'll give you a shout there. I definitely need to spend less time on bnb!

sorry I dident see this till now.

we conceived our first cycle of TTC when my DH came home from Boston, we were apart for 2 months so we got lots of BDing in and I also used the instead cup to hold the swimmers up there, and I was shocked when I got a BFP at 13dpo , but I lost it at 5 weeks.

some sperm info:
sperm start dieing off in conditions colder then 97 degrees,
in conditions warmer then 99 degrees they become slow.
they will die immediately in water or saliva ,( so make sure your DH is not using saliva as a lube for the SA like mine did.)
sperm also start to slowly die the minute the air hits them.
which is why they should not be left to sit for more then a few minutes in the cold lab /office prior to a SA .

they will thrive and live longer in a PH 7.0 -9.0
they will not survive longer then a few hours in a PH lower then 4 .
which is why many women get pregnant using preseed. or eggwhites,
preseed has a PH of 7. egg whites range from 8. to 9.

its a very wise idea to get some PH strips and test your EWCM at ovulation time to see where your PH is. if your is lower then a 4 like mine then you can use preseed or egg whites to help them survive .what I do is suck them up with a needless syringe and insert before we do our home ICI .
please PM me if you want more info on this.
I hope this was not TMI.:dust::dust:
