Hello all, my sister is 37 and diabetic. As she is wanting to have a baby she has gone onto insulin but her readings are far too high currently and she needs to be stable scoring 7 for at least a week consistently! Any advice on how best to achieve this?!?

Eat a low carb diet. My doctor put me on the Atkin's diet after I had DS. It is very restrictive but very good at controlling blood sugar. It also helps weight loss which can help improve insulin sensitivity.

She should really be communicating with her doctor about the best way to get her numbers under control if she wishes to get pregnant.

She needs to take it very seriously. Meet with a dietician and her doctor regularly. It is a very big deal to have good readings.
