I'm a 27 yr old type one diabetic found out two years ago I kinda ignored it up Untill about 4 months ago as I kinda clicked it was the cause of why I can't get preg
Last time I controlled them tight got preg first month ended in mmc
Thought what's the point stopped taking my insulin at this point my cycle was coming up short every month I blamed it on the mmc thinking my body wasn't bouncing back
I'm just wondering are there any other diabetics out there who are ttc and would like to keep in contact
It's frustrating when I pipe in about blood level etc and no one quite gets it
I only know two type 2 a both males and have never meet type one in real life
So would be nice to have someone to chat to :flower:

I am a type 2 diabetic ttc. On our 2nd month of trying. I got pregnant a couple months ago when we weren't trying and miscarried August 4th. I have been trying to keep sugars at a good level, as I felt so guilty that I miscarried because my sugars were bad :( The doctor told me that probably wasnt the case but I still felt bad! had an a1c done about a month ago and was at 6.8. Hoping to get it a point lower! Would be nice having someone to talk to that's in the same boat!

My mmc was caused by hi sugars while I lowered them in tww my 3 month reading was 22 so if hate to think how hi it actually was now I'm down to 7.2 almost due for another reading tho I had a chemical two cycles ago but I had few spikes in 20's now I'm sitting at spikes up to 8 I use to refuse to take my lantus (slow release) so excited just finished my fertile window

Wow! That's crazy high for your first readings, but it looks like you're doing a good job on getting it under control! When I talked to my OB he said it was unlikely that my mc was due to diabetes since I was only 5 weeks along...I was reading 8.8 at that time. My worry is becoming pregnant not being able to control the sugars, since everything I read says it gets harder to control during pregnancy!

Type 2 over here. I was diagnosed in June this year at 7.7. As of November I was 9.0 and Dec 1 I was 9.2. I have started taking metformin, watching what I eat and hoping to go down drastically by march so we can start ttc again.

Babifever- honestly it's rather easy to take down your sugar level once you know what to eat, make sure to take the metformin regularly because it can be easy to forget when you don't "need" it. I dropped from 8.8 to 6.4 in 2 months. You've got this girl.

what all were you eating? What dosage of metformin? This has been a struggle for me. When diagnosed I was prescribed 500mg twice a day. I waited like a 2 months to take it and I wasn't consistent. Then I switched doctors and she prescribed 1000mg twice daily and Glimepiride 2mg every morning. I just feel like that is a lot. So as of last Friday I started taking 500mg twice daily. I know I'm not a doctor, but I just don't feel comfortable taking all of that. When I started my change of diet my fasting blood sugar was 307, today is was 153. So it coming down slowly, but surely. Granted I know it should be under 120 before breakfast. I see you are preggo, congrats!!! Were you overweight prior?

Just lowered my carbs, no sweets, no sugary beverages ( if you like soda, switch to soda water- helps with the craving to have something bubbly without the sugar, better for you than diet soda). Carbs are in everything, make sure to read labels. Fruit needs to be eaten in moderation, I even cut them out at a certain point. Nuts/seeds are fine in moderation. I can tell you that a diabetic diet is honestly no fun at all if you're switching from a normal American diet. You will get food withdrawals, literally. You eventually get used to it, but it's a huge adjustment. I am on 500 twice daily metformin, but it I do have to restrict a lot to control it with that. Consistency is very important with metformin, because it's not an instant fix, it builds up in your system- so you may not see improvement in sugar levels for a few weeks. It's also not a fix all drug, it helps, but usually only by a point or point and a half on the a1c, diet is key. Excersise can lower sugars for up to 48 hours, when I was working out 5 days a week, my a1c dropped to 5.3. Mornings always give the highest readings, there's a name for it, but it's because your body tries getting you ready to wake up, so it dumps glucose in your system- so my morning readings are always higher than any other part of the day. I know so much about this crap so if you want help just ask :)

Thank you :) I'm slightly overweight, I am 5'10" 173 lbs, I think that's still considered healthy range, but the high end...used to be 215 when I was first diagnosed 6 years ago.

Thanks for the info. I've been exercising 6x a week. Completely cut out soda and juices, water only. Also eating mostly wheat products. Pretty much eating everything in moderation. Snacks are graham crackers. Yogart. Occasional fruit pop. No more than 1290 calories. I have changed dramatically I was eating everything about 5000-6000 a day. Doctor wants be under 7.0 before ttc.

You can get there in a couple months with effort. It's gonna take a lot of learning and work but it's totally controllable.

Getting frustrated with fasting numbers running around 160
