Thought it'd be interesting to see what sort of issues we have going on here

Hubby has very poor sperm-motility, morphology and count. Caused by glandular fever :(

So this has long term effects? How? Just curious...we have severe male factor...50,000 official count. Just had hormonal blood tests...but no results yet.

we have unexplained infertility - they can't find anything with either of us

Funny that you mention glandular fever. I had it at 16, then got hypothyroid (GF can start it), the thyroid hormone fluctuation then gave me seizures so I got diagnosed as epileptic, and they now reckon that hypoT can cause hormone issues that disrupt ovulation and cause weight gain, oh, and for the epilepsy I got given a medication that causes PCOS (when they knew I had irregular cy, 3 yrs infertility, but my u/s scan was all clear! tossers!). So all my issues come back to that one infection :(

wow sparkle so it can affect female fertility too! Ive never had it but I think Im a carrier if such a thing exists cause most of the people I dated got in within 2 months!! I am really angry now that more of a fuss isn't made about this illness. There's talk of a vaccine, so its serious enough to warrant that. If only we'd been aware of this at the time but no one told us anything :growlmad:

Unexplained for us.

Although am currently trying to work out if underactive thyroid could be an issue for us. For those of you in the know - would I have symptoms? And would the normal blood tests have checked for this? There is a VERY strong history of underactive thyroid on my mum's side of the family - i.e. all the women have it. I don't have symptoms to indicate I have it, but am planning to speak to doctors about whether I should have specific tests for this.

Male factor low count and me i have pcos :(

No idea why Oh got low count dont think he suffered any illness it just low, he has count but what they look at per ml his is real low, however he is producing alot of sperm but on overall total think its about 16million (that is after 3 days saved) not like he hasnt got sperm just not as much as they wanna see per ml..

i have high prolactin, and dont have any cycles think it spelt amenoreah

Hi Peekaboo, under active thyroid can be a cause for infertility, I think they have to do specific tests as they are not part of the routine. Majority of the women in my family have it too, the main obvious symptom I have is tiredness and I did gain weight which I thought was down to my pcos, but it was not a lot of weight, I am slim generally but enough to make my tummy feel huge lol, I would go and ask to be tested... the weight dropped back off as soon as they got my medication right, plus they have to monitor you extra when you get pregnant so def worth finding out beforehand...

Thanks Kiki! I am going to sort out tests for this, as I think its worth me checking. Congratulations to you! x

We have low sperm count. I put other male issues too, because it's related to his testicular cancer. He had to have one testicle removed, so one would think that his numbers would just be cut in half. Not so. The dr. said that the radiation shouldn't be a factor with count in the other testicle, but I don't believe that. He had .2 million for our IUI on Sunday. I can't remember if the dr. told us that he should have 5 or 10 million per sample. Any ideas?
And I'm just having one of those days today where I'm pissed about the situation and just want to say "This sucks!!" So thanks for letting me vent!

def get tested for hypoT, its a simple blood test, and is easy to start medicating
