Did I cause my chemical pregnancy?

Near the end of July this year I took a pregnancy test which resulted in a faint positive (I couldn't have been more than a week or two along), a few days later I had some very heavy bleeding and painful cramping and concluded that a chemical pregnancy must have occurred.

A few days prior to getting the positive I went out with some friends and drank a bottle of wine, not knowing that I was pregnant. Could I have been the reason for the early miscarriage? I'd never been pregnant before that point, and I still struggle sometimes with the loss of what could have been my child.

Thanks :) xx

Sorry you've had to go through this, but no, these things just happen unfortunately and that early on, baby isn't even getting anything from you, so no alcohol could possibly cross from you to it.

I had a mc in April. I didn't drink at all after ovulation that pregnancy. I got pregnant again in May and was on holiday visiting family and celebrating some big events during the TWW. I drank loads, probably every day. Came home, tested at 10 dpo and got a negative. We had house guests coming for the weekend and I was really depressed about not being pregnant and the mc. I drank about another 3 bottles of wine over the weekend. I started to feel really awful on Monday and Tuesday, took a test on Wednesday and it was positive. This pregnancy has been easy and straightforward and I'm 32 weeks now. Sometimes these things just happen and more often than not, it's just bad luck rather than anything you could control, so please don't beat yourself up about it.

Nothing you did could have caused this hun. I'm so sorry you're going through this, but please don't blame yourself :hugs:

It's natural to look for answers and to try to find a reason, but as others have said, you did not and could not have caused the chemical. At such an early stage baby is not getting anything from you.

I'm so sorry you experienced a loss. It's never easy. Just know it isn't your fault.

I ran before I started bleeding with my loss. I too thought maybe i ran too hard/fast but nope. He just wasnt meant to be my take home baby

Oh bless your heart. I am so sorry for your loss. No, this was not your fault. It isn't healthy for you to carry that guilt or regret, especially when it isn't your fault! Do you have a good support system to help you through this? I'm praying for you girl.

I’m so sorry for your loss. This was definitely not your fault, but I know how it feels to blame yourself. It was part of the grieving process for me.
